The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Supervisor - Sludge Minimisation Facility to lead operations at New Zealand's first Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP) facility at Moa Point, Wellington.

This is a unique opportunity to pioneer advanced sludge treatment operations in New Zealand. You'll lead a team of 5, establish operational excellence, and transfer global best practices to local teams.

What you'll be responsible for

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the SMF operational team, fostering a proactive safety culture
  • Ensure optimal performance of all SMF processes, including the innovative THP
  • Collaborate with the Moa Point WWTP team to ensure integrated plant performance
  • Implement process improvements and operational optimisations
  • Manage safety initiatives, compliance, and emergency preparedness
  • Transfer specialised technical knowledge and develop local capability
  • Monitor performance metrics and maintain accurate operational records
  • Deputise for the Wastewater Treatment Manager as required

What you'll need to be successful

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering or technical certifications in wastewater treatment, OR equivalent experience managing O&M teams in processing plants with gas/steam systems
  • Minimum 5 years in wastewater treatment operations (preferably with Veolia)
  • Experience in complex processing plants with gas, steam, and heat integration systems
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience
  • Proficiency in SCADA and control systems
