We are seeking an experienced Ironworker Foreman to lead and supervise ironworkers on commercial, industrial, and structural steel projects throughout the United States. The ideal candidate is a strong field leader with extensive ironworking experience who can safely direct crews, coordinate with project management and other trades, maintain production schedules, and ensure work is completed to quality and safety standards.
This is a full time position, requiring regular work at project locations away from the employee's home area.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, direct, and coordinate daily activities of ironworker crews.
- Read and interpret structural steel drawings, erection plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Lead the installation, erection, alignment, bolting, welding, and rigging of structural steel and related components.
- Plan daily work activities and assign personnel, equipment, and materials to maximize productivity.
- Coordinate work with project managers, superintendents, general contractors, subcontractors, crane operators, and other trades.
- Conduct daily pre-task planning, toolbox talks, and jobsite safety meetings.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OSHA requirements, company policies, project specifications, and applicable safety procedures.
- Inspect completed work for quality, proper alignment, connections, and compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor crew productivity, manpower, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Identify potential jobsite hazards and take immediate corrective action when necessary.
- Safely direct crane picks, rigging operations, and material handling activities.
- Train, mentor, and provide direction to ironworkers and apprentices.
- Communicate project progress, manpower needs, material requirements, and field issues to management.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, time records, production information, and other required documentation.
- Assist with troubleshooting field conditions, sequencing issues, and changes in scope.
- Maintain a professional relationship with customers, contractors, inspectors, and coworkers.
- Travel to and work at various project locations for extended periods.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of ironworking experience, with demonstrated foreman or crew-lead experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel erection, reinforcing steel, rigging, welding, bolting, and/or miscellaneous metals.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, erection drawings, and specifications.
- Strong understanding of OSHA construction safety requirements and fall-protection practices.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a field crew.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, climb, and perform physically demanding construction work.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively and work away from home for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 certification.
- NCCER or other recognized ironworker/structural steel credentials.
- Qualified welder certifications.
- Rigging and signaling qualifications.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Crane/Signalperson or qualified rigger certification.
- Experience supervising crews of 5–20+ employees.
- Experience working on large-scale commercial, industrial, power, manufacturing, or structural steel projects.
Work Environment
- Extensive travel to project locations throughout the United States.

Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to safely perform physically demanding construction activities, including climbing ladders and steel structures, working at heights, standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and carrying materials and tools, and working in confined or difficult-to-access areas.
