JOB SUMMARY
The Class C Mechanic works with guidance from shop foreman/working foreman in shop and/or field. The ability to perform basic diagnostics, basic mechanical, engine, transmission, drivetrain, hydraulic and a basic understanding of service manuals. The ability to perform general services on equipment lines carried such as changing oil and filters (servicing equipment) prepping of machines i.e. PDI’s, replacing ground engaging tools (cutting edges and teeth) cleaning and checking over equipment before delivery. The ability and willingness to work with other technicians to complete a task.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Employee must have the ability to speak and work well with customers and co-work workers a like.
- Employee possesses the ability to communicate diagnosis and repair during and at completion with customers and co-workers.
- Employee possesses the ability to promote a friendly work environment.
- Employee is skilled in the use of tools and mechanically inclined but lacks the full experience and skill set of a Class “B” mechanic.
- Employee possesses a basic understanding maintenance, repair and rebuilding of equipment or vehicles.
- Employee has a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a technician from any industry.
- Employee is required help other class employees.
- Employee can work independently with some assistance and supervision.
- Employee shall possess the necessary abilities to complete all paperwork completely and efficiently.
- Employee is capable of looking up and ordering all parts necessary to complete the repairs needed for each job.
- Employee is capable of taking all necessary photos, texting, emailing and uploading to work orders for warranty repairs.
- Employee is competent in operating all types of equipment.
- Employee is capable of steam cleaning and detailing equipment as needed.
- Employee is willing to attend a minimum of 80 hours of training annually on an as needed basis provided by the company.
- Adherence to work scheduled hours and overtime as needed.
- Employee is willing assist other class technicians.
- Employee is willing to perform other various tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / ATTRIBUTES
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects of heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues using diagnostic tools and software.
- Experience with maintenance and repair of engines, transmissions, drivetrain, hydraulic systems and electrical systems on heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
- General analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with team members and clients.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy parts and equipment.
- Availability to work flexible hours and weekends as needed.
- Ability to read work orders.
- Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.

WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, climb and squat to perform repairs and inspections; talk and hear; perform fine motor, hand, and finger skills in the use of tools, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to frequently lift 50 pounds; Ability to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
