Join Trane Technologies as a Senior Modeling and Simulation Engineer and lead the development of advanced software tools that drive innovation in HVAC technology. In this role, you will architect, code, and optimize simulation applications that support new product development and technology breakthroughs. Your programming expertise will be essential in solving complex performance and reliability challenges across HVAC components and systems. As a subject matter expert in modeling and simulation, you will guide cross-functional teams, integrate software solutions into engineering workflows, and champion best practices in scientific computing and software engineering.

What you will do:

  • Develop 1D steady-state and transient modelling capability for refrigeration systems, electrical systems, and other sub-systems for HVAC&R products.
  • Maintain and enhance in-house modeling tools with a focus on code quality, scalability, and performance.
  • Apply software engineering principles to improve simulation workflows and automate analysis processes.
  • Stay current with advancements in computational modeling, software development, and simulation technologies.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers to integrate simulation tools into the model-based design (MBD) and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) processes.
  • Conduct code reviews, write unit tests, and manage version control using platforms like GitHub.
  • Lead end-to-end simulation software projects, including planning, schedules, technical reports, and stakeholder presentations to communicate progress and outcomes.

What you will bring:

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, or bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, Modelica, MATLAB, and M-code.
  • Experience developing and maintaining simulation software for engineering applications.
  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC&R equipment and systems, with focus on product design through modeling and simulation.
  • Expertise in thermal sciences (thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics) and transport properties of fluids.
  • Familiarity with software development tools such as Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with optimization algorithms, numerical methods, and data analysis techniques.
