Job Summary Delivers exceptional customer service at the circulation desk, oversees assigned staff, and assumes lead responsibilities in the absence of the Circulation Manager. Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Functions Oversees the Pages directly, including: Participating in staff interviews, hiring, and onboarding Training, coaching, and managing staff Scheduling and approving timesheets Evaluating staff Delivers exceptional service to every customer ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and consistent high-quality results. Communicates library circulation policies and procedures to customers, ensuring a positive and supportive experience. Resolves customer concerns and escalates complex issues appropriately to ensure positive outcomes. Maintains the integrity and accessibility of library materials and circulation records through effective organization, shelving, delivery processing, and withdrawal of items. Promotes library resources, programs, and services to increase customer engagement and community awareness. Processes payments for customers including making deposits, as necessary. May act as clerk in charge when necessary. Oversees daily Page operations and assigned budgets. Leads, schedules, and supports Pages to maintain smooth service operations. Represents the branch in meetings, committees, outreach activities, and staff training to advance systemwide goals and initiatives. Completes required administrative duties, including attending meetings, preparing and submitting reports, participating in training and workshops, and representing CCPL at regional or statewide events as assigned. Maintains professional growth and development through participation in library teams, committees, outreach, training activities, and professional organizations. Supports and performs branch-specific services and initiatives as needed. Performs other duties as instructed and assigned. QualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Thorough knowledge of all CCPL policies, procedures, and guidelines. Commitment to outstanding internal and external customer service. Ability to use clear, professional communication to create and tailor instructions based on individual needs and experience. Familiarity with the Dewey Decimal Classification System and basic library organization principles. Thorough and current knowledge of information sources and search tools. Familiar with relevant computer equipment and associated software applications. Education and Experience Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED One to three years of related work experience Preferred Qualifications Library, customer service, or clerical work experience Physical and Environmental Conditions Work regularly involves physical effort, including handling moderately heavy materials, boxes, carts, or equipment, boxes (up to 50 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on a routine basis and/or walking or standing for extended periods. The role often requires stooping, bending, and kneeling for shelving and other tasks. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, and libraries, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations, and/or working in moderate outdoor weather conditions.
