Hourly Wage 

ISS Guckenheimer offers full-time employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, as well as a comprehensive leave program based on employment status. The hourly pay range for this position is $28.00 per hour - $28.00 per hour. 

 

Work Hours  

The work hours for this position may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. 

 

Key Purpose 

The Engineer I performs routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance on building equipment and systems. This position is responsible for responding to service requests, completing assigned work orders, and ensuring facilities remain safe, clean, and operational. Work is performed under general supervision.

 

Success Criteria 

  • Complete assigned preventive and corrective maintenance tasks safely, accurately, and within expected timeframes.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and communicate status or concerns as needed.
  • Follow all OSHA, company, and client safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and properly document work orders in the CMMS.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe mechanical rooms and work areas.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service and professionalism when interacting with clients, coworkers, and building occupants.
  • Support emergency response activities as needed. 

 

 

Key Areas of Collaboration and Influence 

  • Work closely with higher-level Engineers and Facilities leadership to support building operations and maintenance activities.
  • Assist higher-level Engineers with larger repairs, projects, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Communicate building issues, equipment abnormalities, and maintenance needs to the appropriate team members.
  • Respond professionally to maintenance requests from clients, occupants, and internal teams.


 Ideal Candidate Experience 

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years of commercial building maintenance experience preferred.
  • Basic working knowledge of:
  • HVAC systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Mechanical equipment
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools safely.
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical instructions.
  • Basic experience troubleshooting commercial building equipment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  •  Ability to learn new building systems, equipment, and maintenance procedures. 


Key Accountabilities  

  • Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Troubleshoot basic building equipment and system issues.
  • Complete general building repairs involving:
  • Lighting
  • Doors
  • Ceilings
  • Flooring
  • Plumbing fixtures
  • Other general building systems
  • Monitor building automation systems and report abnormal conditions or equipment concerns.
  • Replace filters, belts, lamps, batteries, and other routine consumable components.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update work orders using the CMMS.
  • Assist higher-level Engineers with larger repairs, maintenance activities, and projects.
  • Maintain clean mechanical rooms, equipment areas, and workspaces.
  •  Participate in emergency response activities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 


Physical Demands & Work Environment  

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate common hand and power tools.
  • Ability to perform maintenance activities in commercial building environments, including mechanical and equipment spaces.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical maintenance tasks throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to safely perform the physical requirements associated with inspecting, maintaining, and repairing building equipment and systems.

Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary from the above range.
