Pine State Beverage is currently recruiting an On-Premise Fine Wine Sales Representative to cover accounts throughout York County in Maine.

Compensation:

  • Salary Range of $60,000 to $65,000, which includes a base salary, commissions, and PMs.

Job Summary: 

The On-Premise Fine Wine Sales Representative is responsible for the sales, communication, and account development of an extensive wine, beer and non-alcoholic portfolio covering accounts throughout York County in Maine. This position is responsible for using local market knowledge and experience within the beverage industry, and the local market trends to drive sales and profitability for our company. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop and present to customers effective strategies to increase sales.
  • Communicate to customers new items, product information and competitive market information to generate dialogue and create “need”.
  • Generate and present proposals for draft lines, house pours, menu placements, promotions, and special events.
  • Prepare scheduled sales presentations by means of requesting samples and drafting proposals.
  • Review non-buy account list regularly. Work with appropriate personnel to secure new business.
  • Monitor vintage dates and product codes to ensure compliance with PST Co. and supplier quality standards.
  • Organize back stock inventory at accounts and work to floor on a weekly basis.
  • Review inventory at all accounts. Write orders to maintain effective product levels and verify daily orders are placed in accordance with assigned times to ensure Company’s operational efficiency.
  • Adhere to account call frequency and sequence to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Submit all monies collected from deliveries in a timely manner according to established company guidelines.
  • Collect for bad checks. Work with internal management team to make arrangements for problem accounts.
  • Communicate to appropriate departments all changes in account status (delivery date, ownership, license information) and any other pertinent developments within the assigned territory.
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with owners and buying personnel at key accounts.
  • Resolve customer complaints professionally and in a timely manner. Utilize assistance from Regional District Manager and/or other PST personnel as necessary.
  • Complete and submit all administrative paperwork, i.e., sample requests, incentive tracking sheets on or before deadline.
  • Review permanent POS and back-of-bar product placements on a regular basis to ensure fresh, current advertising images in the marketplace.
  • Utilize Marketing Department and Print Shop to the maximum extent as it relates to printed materials needed to grow business at an on-premise establishment, i.e, the printed beverage program.
  • Write credits for damaged items and/or shipment errors within authority as per established company guidelines.
  • Maintain professional responsibility for Company’s secondary locations.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of on-premise trade, sales & strategic marketing in the beverage industry.
  • Knowledge of our beverage portfolio and the key elements to proposing a beverage program at an on premise establishment.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven analytical decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated business math skills.
  • Time management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Commitment to quality and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Valid Maine driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed including late nights and weekends.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular and sustained periods of strenuous physical exertion requiring ability to lift, carry and position objects using proper body mechanics (10 to 15 pounds consistently and 25 to 40 pounds occasionally).
  • Significant periods of time spent in a vehicle, traveling to accounts within assigned territory.
  • Exposure to a variety of environmental conditions: weather, temperature, lighting and noise as determined by circumstances at accounts within assigned territory.
