Job DetailsJob Location: WAUNAKEE, WI 53597Job Summary The Shipping Associate is responsible for preparing, packaging, and coordinating the shipment of metal fabricated products to customers. This role ensures all outgoing orders meet quality standards, are correctly documented, and are shipped on time. The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting and is familiar with handling heavy materials and operating shipping equipment.     Key Responsibilities Prepare and package metal fabricated parts and products for shipment according to company standards and customer specifications. Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and tracking of all outgoing shipments (e.g., BOLs, packing slips). Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes to move heavy materials safely. Coordinate with production, quality control, and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of products. Perform visual inspections of products before shipping to verify quality and compliance. Use shipping software and systems (e.g., UPS, FedEx, LTL carriers) to create labels and arrange pickups. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shipping area. Assist in loading/unloading trucks as needed. Perform other duties as assigned to support production and logistics. QualificationsQualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. 1–3 years of experience in material handling, warehousing, or manufacturing preferred. Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification required. Knowledge of material handling practices in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Proficiency with forklifts, pallet jacks, and (if applicable) overhead cranes or hoists. Ability to read and interpret work orders, shipping documents, and material tags. Basic math and measurement skills for material verification. Strong organizational skills for efficient material storage and staging. Attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of shop safety rules and PPE requirements.     Key Competencies:   Technical Competencies Equipment Operation – Safe and efficient use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes/hoists. Staging & Organization – Efficiently staging materials for production while maintaining orderly storage. Safety Compliance – Knowledge of OSHA and company safety standards for lifting, stacking, and handling. Standing and walking for extended periods (8+ hours per shift) on concrete floors. Bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to access materials and operate equipment. Pushing and pulling carts, pallets, or product bins. Manual handling of awkward or heavy metal parts with sharp edges (PPE required). Repetitive motions such as taping, strapping, or wrapping packages. Climbing on and off forklifts or other equipment multiple times during a shift.
