Position Title: Master Mold Maker Reports To: Tooling Manager

Summary
The Master Mold Maker is responsible for safely and efficiently building new tools as well as performing varying levels of preventative maintenance and mold repairs on injection molds. This role is critical in supporting production by ensuring the highest possible reliability and uptime.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Observe all safety rules/regulations and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Disassemble, maintain, reassemble and clean molding tools per maintenance cycle.
- Ability to use tools for hand work and polishing of molding surfaces as needed.
- Build and assemble new molds from start to finish.
- Diagnose problems and determine corrective actions on injection molds.
- Work closely with design and CNC machining teams to resolve issues and/or make improvements.
- Assist with CNC machining as needed
- Perform work by following all safety and quality standards.
- Maintain clean and organized work and storage areas
- Reliable attendance
- Lead and continue training of tool technicians
- Other duties as assigned in Management’s sole discretion
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
- Journeyman Toolmaker or equivalent experience in the trade
- Strong knowledge of injection molding and manufacturing operations. Insert/overmolding is a plus
- Knowledge of hot runner system repair a plus
- Ability to perform multiple functions including manual lathes, mills, grinders, welding, etc.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Ability to define problems and resolve quickly.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Understanding of tool steels, aluminum, copper alloys as well as industry standard coatings and treatments
- Capable of working from blueprints and/or CAD models to construct, alter, or repair tooling
- Able to manage multiple jobs at different stages.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Must have or obtain forklift certification
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work overtime when required by management
- Must have flexible working schedule to support molding operations
- Repetitive bending/reaching
- Standing for sustained periods to time
- Must be able to lift to 45 pounds
