Spartronics Opening: Production Supervisor - 2nd shift (3pm to 1am)

On-Site Work Location: Spartronics; 2920 Kelly Ave; Watertown, SD

Regular Shift Hours: 10 hours/day, Monday - Thursday with OT on Friday when necessary.

Personal Protective Equipment Required: ESD smocks, ESD foot and wrist straps, safety glasses.


Basic Purpose of Position: Plans, directs, and coordinates, production activities to ensure the highest quality products. Contributes to a positive atmosphere and encourages good work habits.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct leadership and support to production employees within the assigned area.
  • Mentor and coach Line Leader assigned to the work area to provide a cohesive leadership team for the employees.
  • Set tactical expectation for work area, as well as, the individuals within the team.
  • Partner with Human Resources and management to plan staffing needs.
  • Interact with Line Leads and other area supervisors to balance labor capacity requirements as needed.
  • Lead interviewing and hiring decisions for the assigned production area.
  • Provide training plan and oversee on-boarding of new employees within the area.
  • Oversee employee performance including 1:1 discussions with direct reports, on-going performance coaching and writing/presenting annual performance reviews
  • Partner with Human Resources in compensation decisions.
  • Participate in company and customer meetings as needed to understand customer requirements.
  • Support and encourage company values and vision through actions and words.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness.

Quality & Lean

  • Collects, interprets and posts quality data to be used for continuous improvement.
  • Evaluates quality and takes corrective action.
  • Ensures training requirements are sufficiently met either through personal training involvement or through other applicable training resources (engineers, technicians, etc.)
  • Maintain applicable quality/regulatory documentation specific to the requirements of the product.
  • Identify and pursue resolution of issues impacting product quality directly with the individual/group responsible.
  • Support other area Supervisors and Leads in seeking resolution of issues impacting product quality directly with the individual/group responsible. As appropriate, work directly with representatives from other departments for cross-functional issues that may be impacting quality within the department.
  • Conduct continuous improvement meetings to identify relevant issues, assign corrective action ownership, and monitor progress to completion.
  • Recommend measures to improve process methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Ensure training matrix is up to date and complete as verification that an operator has been trained, tested, and certified.
  • Identify, monitor, and resolve inefficiencies relative to applicable labor standards, and provide recommendations for improvement.

On-Time Delivery

  • Assures timely ordering of material and reports shortages to avoid work stoppage.
  • Regulate and own the flow of product through the following: sets expectations for the work area, develops the daily plan and communicate with other departments such as support and other production lines as needed.
  • Assure timely defective material management.
  • Identify, communicate, and pursue resolution of issues impacting build and delivery schedule directly with the individual/group responsible.
  • Participate in developing a process plan including people, material, equipment, and work flow for each work area to maximize performance.

Safety: Ensure all assignments are performed in compliance with applicable Federal, State and Company safety and health regulations, and where applicable, proper personal protective equipment is utilized.


Other: All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two to four years related supervisory experience and/or training preferred. 
  • Lean/process improvement experience preferred.
  • Language Ability: Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Reasoning Ability: Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgement.
  • Full color vision is an essential job requirement. Color identification test may be required pre-hire.
  • Computer Skills: Word processing, Spreadsheets, E-mail, Inventory/Manufacturing software experience necessary.
