NAHB is seeking a building industry professional to join NAHB’s regulatory advocacy efforts to improve the performance and advance the affordability of residential construction in the U.S. The primary focus of this position is on effective energy solutions, green construction practices, and sustainability in single-family and multifamily buildings.Â
The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the nexus of advanced building technology, renewable energy solutions, policy, and advocacy across a wide range of industry forums and engaging with a broad spectrum of industry stakeholders.Â
Essential Duties and Responsibilties
- Working as part of a team developing and implementing NAHB’s strategy for energy codes and standards across ICC, ASHRAE, and other forums.
- Codes and standards - focusing on zero net energy and emission reductions.Â
- Work on longer-term initiatives to develop tools and information that support NAHB code advocacy efforts in these areas.
- Responsible for assisting NAHB members, committees, and staff with technical issues related to construction methods and practices.
- Support adoption and implementation of energy codes and energy policies in jurisdictions around country.
- Other responsibilities include preparing and/or presenting articles, status updates, webinars, and other related materials.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, material science, or architecture, or equivalent in education and experience, is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience related to building design and/or construction.
- Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to evaluate complex technical issues and effectively articulate NAHB’s position in a public setting.
- Must be able to develop and maintain professional relationships and work positively with relevant stakeholders, committees, groups, voting members, and other industry professionals.Â
- Applicants must be able to review and understand technical and regulatory information related to building codes, design standards, product standards, and offer solutions.
- Experience with building codes and standards development, code enforcement, above-code programs, and/or construction costs are preferred.
- Technical proficiency in energy efficient building technologies and/or renewable energy are also preferred.Â
