At MetaPhase, we believe Quirky is Cool and being authentic is the only way to be. We take our mission-focused work seriously while bringing curiosity, generosity, boldness, and practical problem solving to every client challenge.

Together, our people make the difference for clients and colleagues.

Are you ready to:

  • Build secure cyber capabilities that help tactical security teams investigate and respond to threats?

  • Develop digital forensic tooling, automation, and data-processing utilities for mission users?

  • Grow within a company that values curiosity, shared ownership, and inclusive collaboration?

  • Bring your technical judgment to mission challenges that matter?

Role Summary

MetaPhase supports secure Federal mission environments that depend on resilient cyber capabilities, digital forensic tooling, and rapid incident response. The work combines software engineering, systems automation, data processing, DevSecOps, and cybersecurity to help tactical security teams investigate threats and sustain critical operations.

MetaPhase is seeking a Cyber Capability Developer with at least 8 years of relevant experience to design, build, test, secure, and sustain specialized cyber capabilities. This developer will serve as a technical authority for digital forensic tooling, secure data-ingest pipelines, custom data-processing utilities, and automated delivery practices that accelerate incident triage and threat analysis.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Design, provision, and maintain high-availability, multi-platform digital forensic tooling that supports security incident response and threat analysis.

  • Translate complex analytical and operational requirements into secure, functional software utilities that perform reliably within constrained mission environments.

  • Develop secure data-ingest pipelines, data-processing utilities, and automation that accelerate incident triage while protecting data integrity and operational evidence.

  • Engineer tooling that interoperates across commercial, GOTS, and custom-developed applications in mixed-vendor technical environments.

  • Implement security hardening, secure coding practices, automated testing, logging, and quality checks that support resilient cyber operations.

  • Establish centralized version control and CI/CD pipelines that automate capability builds, testing, deployment, patching, configuration updates, and rollback procedures.

  • Document tool designs, operating procedures, test evidence, and user materials; support training and incorporate operational feedback into capability improvements.

What We Need From You (Required)

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in cyber capability development, software engineering, digital forensics, systems automation, or a closely related technical discipline.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, software engineering, information systems, engineering, or a related field.

  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI access. U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • Advanced proficiency in modern industry-standard languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, C#, Go, Rust, or comparable technologies, including development that interfaces with user- and kernel-level components.

  • Hands-on experience with software design, debugging, unit and integration testing, centralized source control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment or configuration-management technologies.

  • Experience applying secure coding practices, forensic data handling, vulnerability remediation, security configuration controls, and automated quality checks within a structured software development lifecycle.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with security analysts, incident responders, forensic practitioners, software engineers, and delivery leadership.

What Sets You Apart (Preferred)

  • Experience developing cyber capabilities, digital forensic tooling, or threat-analysis utilities for Federal, law enforcement, intelligence, cyber, or other mission-critical environments.

  • Experience building and operating high-availability, multi-platform systems in cloud, hybrid, or restricted operational environments.

  • Proficiency with Git-based workflows, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, and automated capability-delivery tooling.

  • Experience integrating commercial solutions, GOTS systems, and custom-developed applications with APIs, data stores, identity services, and automated patching or deployment solutions.

  • Experience developing technical documentation, forensic tool operating procedures, test evidence, release documentation, and training materials for operational cyber capabilities.

  • Current TS/SCI clearance and demonstrated experience supporting work in secure on-site environments.

Work Location

Washington, DC metropolitan area. On-site support is required based on customer access, system classification, and mission needs.

Remote Schedule

  • Hybrid, subject to customer direction and secure-environment access requirements.

Travel

  • Travel may be required for mission workshops, technical working sessions, or program activities.

Education Level

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, software engineering, information systems, engineering, or a related field.

Clearance Level

  • This position requires a current ACTIVE TS with SCI eligibility.

  • U.S. Citizenship required. No exceptions.

Compensation

  • Compensation decisions are based on the facts and circumstances of each case, including experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
