Originally formed through Anderson Mechanical Services, Inc. and Inspiration Plumbing Company, VMG brings decades of industry experience together with a forward-thinking approach to delivering high-quality mechanical solutions.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout. This position will have responsibility for project financial performance, scheduling, procurement, coordination, client relationships, and successful field execution.

The ideal candidate is an experienced construction professional with a strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP systems who can effectively manage project teams, build strong relationships, and deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

What You'll Do

Lead Projects from Start to Finish

  • Manage commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction and planning through final turnover and closeout

  • Establish project goals, schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and execution strategies

  • Coordinate project activities across Project Management, field operations, VDC, Engineering, Procurement, and other internal teams

  • Maintain ownership of project performance, ensuring milestones and contractual requirements are achieved

  • Identify potential challenges early and develop solutions to keep projects moving forward

  • Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced construction environment

Manage Project Financial Performance

  • Develop, manage, and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost projections

  • Monitor labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs

  • Review project financial performance and identify risks or opportunities that could impact profitability

  • Manage change orders, pricing, documentation, and contract modifications

  • Support procurement planning and major equipment and material purchasing decisions

  • Identify value-engineering and cost-saving opportunities

  • Maintain accountability for the overall financial success of assigned projects

Coordinate MEP Construction

  • Lead coordination efforts for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related MEP systems

  • Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, RFIs, submittals, coordination drawings, and other construction documents

  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and BIM/VDC coordination

  • Work with Superintendents and Foremen to develop sequencing, manpower plans, and field execution strategies

  • Coordinate with other trades to resolve conflicts and maintain project schedules

  • Ensure project teams have the information, materials, equipment, and resources needed for successful execution

Build Strong Client & Partner Relationships

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and project partners

  • Lead and participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and client discussions

  • Communicate project status, schedule, financial considerations, and potential challenges clearly and proactively

  • Build strong relationships through responsiveness, accountability, and consistent project execution

  • Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships throughout the project lifecycle

  • Represent VMG professionally with customers and industry partners

Drive Schedule, Quality & Safety

  • Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with field leadership and project partners

  • Monitor project milestones, procurement requirements, and construction progress

  • Partner with Superintendents and Foremen to maintain productivity and resolve field challenges

  • Support VMG's safety expectations and ensure project teams comply with applicable safety requirements

  • Maintain quality standards and ensure installations comply with drawings, specifications, codes, and contractual requirements

  • Proactively manage project risks and escalate significant concerns when necessary

Manage Project Closeout

  • Coordinate equipment startup, testing, commissioning, and system turnover

  • Manage punch-list activities and outstanding project requirements

  • Ensure closeout documentation, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, and other deliverables are completed

  • Coordinate final project acceptance with clients and project partners

  • Support warranty transition and resolution of post-construction items

  • Conduct project reviews and capture lessons learned to improve future performance

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience in commercial construction, mechanical contracting, MEP contracting, or with a General Contractor

  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP systems

  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from preconstruction through closeout

  • Strong knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration

  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, project documentation, and cost controls

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documentation

  • Proven ability to coordinate field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and multiple trades

  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of project profitability

  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities

  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar construction management platforms

  • Ability to travel to project locations as required

Preferred Experience

  • Experience managing commercial construction projects ranging from $2M to $50M+

  • Previous Project Management experience with a commercial mechanical contractor

  • Experience managing large and complex HVAC, plumbing, piping, or MEP scopes

  • Experience with negotiated, design-build, and design-assist projects

  • Familiarity with BIM/VDC coordination and constructability review processes

  • Experience managing projects involving multiple trades and complex construction schedules

  • Experience with commissioning, project turnover, and closeout

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered
