JOB PURPOSE:

The Professor and Chair serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the Department of Earth, Environment, and Equity (EEE). The Chair provides strategic leadership to advance the Department's teaching, research, scholarship, service, outreach, and resource development activities while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and student-centered academic environment.

SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:

Serves as principal academic leader and chief administrative officer. Oversees academic programs, budgets, personnel, strategic planning, research initiatives, outreach, and continuous improvement efforts.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Serves as principal academic leader and chief administrative officer. Oversees academic programs, budgets, personnel, strategic planning, research initiatives, outreach, and continuous improvement efforts.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Department.
  • Lead faculty and staff recruitment, development, evaluation, mentoring, and retention.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resources, facilities, and financial operations.
  • Promote excellence in teaching, research, scholarship, and service.
  • Support faculty research productivity, publication efforts, and grantsmanship.
  • Secure external funding and participate in fundraising and advancement efforts.
  • Oversee curriculum development, assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Promote student recruitment, retention, engagement, mentoring, and success.
  • Develop productive relationships with alumni, community partners, industry representatives, and professional organizations.
  • Advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.
