DC Scholars develops lifelong scholars who have the academic knowledge and skills, individual passions, and community-mindedness necessary to succeed in and contribute to an ever-changing world. The Position The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational ownership of two critical areas of school operations: technology and student health. This role is ideal for an operations professional who is highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing systems, vendors, compliance requirements, and cross-functional operational projects in a high-performing school environment. The Operations Manager will be a part of the Operations Team and will report to the Director of Operations.   Day to Day Operations: Conduct daily building walkthroughs with the Operations Coordinator to identify and address facilities needs. Ensure the school is operationally ready each day, including classrooms, common spaces, technology, and critical operational systems. Provide operational support to the front desk to ensure a welcoming, organized, and responsive front office experience  Connect with the school nurse to ensure that student health needs are addressed promptly, required health documentation is maintained. Other duties as assigned. Technology Operations & Asset Management Serve as a primary operational point of contact for technology needs and issues across the school, coordinating closely with the network team to ensure timely resolution and clear ownership. Manage the technology helpdesk/ticketing process in partnership with the network team, including monitoring requests, queues, response times, escalations, and ticket closure. Ensure staff receive timely communication, updates, and follow-through regarding technology requests, working with the network team to communicate next steps and resolve issues. Manage school technology inventory and fleet readiness, including laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, phones, printers, interactive panels, and other classroom and office technology. Maintain accurate technology asset records, including device assignment, deployment, repairs, replacements, and lifecycle status, in coordination with the network team. Support technology needs for school events and other major operational activities as needed, coordinating with the network team to ensure reliable connectivity and technology readiness.    Student Health & Immunization Compliance Develop and execute the annual Immunization Compliance Plan. Monitor immunization compliance and maintain accurate records. Track compliance deadlines and proactively identify students or records requiring follow-up. Ensure required health documentation is collected, maintained, and available for audits. Coordinate with the contracted school nurse and relevant staff to ensure health-related operational needs are addressed. Ensure school processes align with applicable DC Health requirements. Maintain confidentiality and security of student health information in accordance with school policies and applicable requirements.   Safety and Security  Update Emergency Response procedures on an annual basis  Create the Annual Safety Drill schedule and compliance submission requirements  Ensure that all safety materials and resources are present and posted in all spaces  Manage contracted MPD Officer and security personnel  Manage the camera and security systems  Routinely evaluate school safety and make recommendations for improvement  Ensure entrances are always closed and carefully monitored  Nutrition & Food Service Operations Ensure school meal service operates in accordance with National School Lunch Program (NSLP) requirements and applicable USDA/OSSE guidelines. Complete and maintain required monthly NSLP claims and supporting documentation. Monitor meal service systems to ensure students receive timely, high-quality meals. Supervise the food service team  Ensure meal service systems adhere to guidelines and provide timely and high quality meals    Background and Experience Bachelor's degree preferred in Operations, Business Administration, Education, Technology, Public Administration, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in school operations, education, technology operations, health and safety, or a related operational field. Experience working in a fast-paced, high-performing school or similarly complex organizational environment. Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, systems, and stakeholders simultaneously. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Ability to identify potential operational issues proactively and take initiative to resolve them. Starting salaries for new hires will be determined based on a combination of the new hire's relevant experience and market demands.
