If so, we’d love for you to join Iona Senior Services as the Manager of our Oasis Senior Center for the Homeless. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.

SUMMARY:

The Center Manager at Iona’s Oasis Senior Center for the Unhoused Senior is responsible for the overall oversight and daily operations of the center, serving DC residents age 60+ including individuals experiencing housing instability. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Nutrition Programs, the Center Manager oversees congregate dining operations, manages site staff, coordinates activities programming and calendar development, and ensures all services are provided in compliance with DACL service standards. The Center Manager provides supervision to the Oasis Senior Center Community Dining Site Assistant, manages the center’s social support services and donation program, and works closely with Iona’s Clinical team and community partners to address the complex needs of Oasis participants. The Center Manager is responsible for site-level day-to-day operations and staff management, with functional nutrition guidance provided through the Senior Manager of Nutrition Programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Dining Site Oversight

  • Oversee Iona’s congregate dining site operations at the Oasis Senior Center for the Unhoused Senior with full adherence to DACL Standards and Guidelines for Community Dining.
  • Manage daily site operations including set-up, meal service, and clean-up; provide guidance to Kitchen Assistant and any DOES program aides to ensure all food service protocols are followed.
  • Maintain daily participant attendance data and meal reservations; submit weekly reports to the Senior Manager of Nutrition Programs.
  • Complete intake and nutrition screenings for new participants and facilitate annual renewals; submit completed documentation to the Data Coordinator.
  • Ensure the welcome/registration table is staffed and all required documents, handouts, and menus are available during all programming hours.
  • Communicate comments and complaints about programs, services, menus, food quality, or any operational concerns to the Senior Manager of Nutrition Programs.
  • Wear a hairnet and gloves for safe food handling and adhere to all applicable federal and local food safety laws.
  • Attend all required staff meetings, training sessions, and certification sessions.
  • Maintain active ServSafe, CPR, and First Aid certifications.

Activities Coordination and Site Calendar

  • Plan, organize, and oversee community activities such as events, health fairs, and special programs at the Oasis Senior Center for the Unhoused Senior, with support from the Oasis Dining Site Assistant.
  • Develop and maintain the monthly activities calendar for the Oasis Senior Center in collaboration with the Oasis Senior Center Community Dining Site Assistant, ensuring a varied and inclusive schedule of programming for older adult participants.
  • Ensure activities are delivered effectively and aligned with organizational objectives and DACL grant standards.
  • Coordinate logistics including venues, materials, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Communicate with the Data Manager and Data Team regarding reporting and data needs for all site activities.

Social Support Services

  • Support participants with the identification of housing resources, social services, and other community supports appropriate to their needs.
  • Liaise with participants’ social workers to facilitate program referrals and support completion of related documentation tasks.
  • Collaborate closely with Iona’s Clinical team to provide coordinated resources and support for Oasis participants with complex needs.
  • Manage the center’s donation program, ensuring participants have equitable access to available items and that the program is administered in an organized and dignified manner.
  • Provide educational and social programming that addresses the unique needs and interests of Oasis participants.
  • Ensure participants receive accurate information about Iona Senior Services and community resources; facilitate direct referrals to Iona’s designated Social Worker as needed.

Data, Compliance, and Reporting

  • Collect and maintain accurate site data for all service areas, ensuring timely submission to the Data Team.
  • Support the Senior Manager of Nutrition Programs with data requests and inquiries from DACL.
  • Ensure all DACL-required documentation including attendance records, meal sign-ins, intake forms, and participant surveys is completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Participate in performance outcome measure (POM) and customer satisfaction survey administration at the site level.

Collaboration and Community Engagement

  • Identify and connect with community partners to provide additional resources, programming, and referrals for site participants.
  • Support Iona’s volunteer program by training and supervising volunteers or stipend recipients
  • assisting with site operations, welcome/registration, meal service, and programming.
  • Participate in agency-wide planning, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and other organizational efforts as requested.

  • Oasis Senior Center Community Dining Site Assistant PT (30/Hrs.)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years of related work experience, including 1+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, in health care services, social work, public health, aging services, or related field required.
  • Experience working with individuals, experiencing housing instability, homelessness, or complex social needs is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the older adult community and participant needs; ability to relate warmly and effectively to diverse populations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication (written and oral), customer service, data management, problem-solving, and cultural competency skills.
  • Skilled listener with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) and Zoom.
  • Ability to complete or renew annual ServSafe, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
  • Able to regularly lift, carry, and maneuver 25+ lbs.
