Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of eighty employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and multiple counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need. We seek a part-time Morning Shuttle Driver. Driving a passenger mini-van, the Shuttle Driver willÂ
- Warmly greet staff, volunteers, and visitors and transport them between the Fort Totten Metro station and Food & Friends’ campus on Riggs Road, NE;Â
- Respond to calls from passengers who need to be picked-up;
- Fill van with gas as needed; and
- Report vehicle maintenance needs to supervisor
The drive between the Metro station and Food & Friends is approximately one mile each way. Working hours are 5:45 AM to 10:45 AM, Monday thru Friday. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys early mornings and working with people.Â
Requirements include a driver’s license (CDL not required), good driving record, working knowledge of traffic laws/regulations, fluency in English, and excellent people skills. Prior professional driving experience strongly preferred. Must be able and willing to drive in a variety of weather conditions, including snow and ice. Offer of employment contingent upon a background check and pre-employment drug test.
The Morning Shuttle Driver will make $21.64 per hour and contribute to Food & Friends’ charitable mission of helping neighbors in need. Benefits not included.Â
