The Investment Company Institute (ICI) is the leading association representing regulated investment funds, including mutual funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), closed-end funds, and unit investment trusts (UITs) in the United States, and UCITS and similar funds offered to investors in Europe, Asia, and other jurisdictions. ICI also represents its members on issues involving the capital markets, separately managed accounts (SMAs) and collective investment trusts (CITs). ICI’s mission is to strengthen the foundation of the asset management industry for the ultimate benefit of the long-term individual investor. 

This role supports the Government Affairs team by coordinating advocacy-related communications, meetings, compliance filings, and materials for congressional, consultant, member, and PAC activities. Key responsibilities include tracking outreach, preparing agendas and summaries, supporting Capitol Hill communications, managing administrative logistics, and ensuring timely follow-up on meetings, hearings, travel, expenses, and related government affairs priorities.

 Essential functions of this role include:

  • Track communications with external consultants and member organizations to support federal advocacy priorities.
  • Maintain organized records of outreach, engagement, and ongoing policy-related communications with GA consultants.
  • Schedule, organize, and support GAP meetings.
  • Develop agendas, distribute meeting materials, and document follow‑up action items from GAP meetings.
  • Monitor, listen to, and/or attend relevant congressional hearings and briefings, as it pertains to ICI.
  • Prepare and distribute timely written summaries and policy readouts to internal stakeholders following hearings or key legislative events.
  • Support internal processes for drafting, reviewing, approving, and transmitting letters and communications to Capitol Hill.
  • Support the preparation, review, and filing of Lobbying Disclosure Act reports and related compliance materials.
  • Coordinate with consultants and internal teams to ensure filings are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Draft and distribute the Week Ahead email; highlighting upcoming congressional activity, meetings, hearings, and GA/ICI priorities.
  • Prepare background materials, briefing documents, and talking points for all ICI PAC hosted events.
  • Makes all necessary travel and meeting arrangements, and processes expense reimbursement submissions.
  • Obtains and assembles information and materials needed for meetings and scheduled events.
  • Drafts, formats, and edits correspondence to ICI members, Members of Congress, government officials and their staff.
  • Assists the Political Affairs Director with routine administrative tasks for the ICI’s Political Action Committee (ICI PAC); circulates fundraiser invitations and documents RSVPs.

If you have the following credentials, we encourage you to apply:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minium 1 year of administrative experience, preferably Government affairs/political experience on Capitol Hill, the Executive Branch or as an administrator in a government affairs office, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience preferred.
  • Experience working with databases, and on-line and Internet research tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and video conferencing (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx) applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing assignments.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interface well with staff at all levels including senior executives both internally and externally, outside counsel, Members of Congress and their staff, and government agency officials.
