Akira Technologies is seeking a Field Support Technician to support the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Development (OUSD(R&D)) on advanced defense technology and mission initiatives.

Reporting to the Lead Hardware Engineer, the Field Support Technician will support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and deployment of navigation sensor and onboard computing systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on technical experience working with electronic hardware, cabling, sensor systems, and field-deployed equipment.

This is a hybrid role requiring up to three (3) days a week in Washington, DC and travel of up to 25% including Hawaii and Colorado, among others. This supports a government client and thus, active Top Secret clearance is needed.

Responsibilities

  • Physically install and maintain navigation sensors, onboard computing resources, cabling, and equipment enclosures.
  • Perform maintenance and configuration of the navigation sensor stack between test flights and field deployments.
  • Support installation, removal, inspection, and replacement of system components.
  • Create and distribute installation guides and technical instructions for the navigation sensor kit.
  • Provide end-user training and troubleshooting support for deployed systems.
  • Diagnose hardware and connectivity issues and coordinate repair, return, and replacement of components.
  • Maintain accurate equipment, configuration, and maintenance documentation.
  • Coordinate closely with the Lead Hardware Engineer and other engineering personnel during integration, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Travel approximately 25%, including Hawaii and Colorado.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance.
  • Associate's degree in electronics, engineering technology, computer technology, or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Completion of relevant technical or industry training.
  • Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or supporting electronic, computing, sensor, or communications equipment.
  • Ability to work with cabling, connectors, hardware components, and equipment enclosures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to create and follow technical installation and maintenance procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide technical support and training to end users, with an ability to provide 1:1 and small group training.
  • Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC 3 days per week and travel approximately 25%.


Salary Range:  $90,000 to $100,000
