Job Summary:   Performs technical preparation of cytology slides from ThinPrep samples for microscopic examination; presents quality control screening of slides.

 

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Identify cytology specimens.
  • Create sample worksheets utilizing dMDL.
  • Label cytology imaging slides with patient identifiers.
  • Preparing slides utilizing ThinPrep 2000
  • Operate Veristain
  • Operate Tissue-Tek Film cover slipper for cytology imaging slides
  • Load and operate ThinPrep Imaging System
  • Process sample worksheets
  • Manual preparation of cytology slide using GAA protocol

 

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of waste disposal
  • Coordination with Cytology manager
  • Record keeping
  • Assures activities are conducted in a safe manner and materials are handled according to safety guidelines.
  • Assures customer privacy is maintained at all times.
  • Participates as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities.
  • Assures information is delivered in a manner that is supportive, timely and understandable.
  • Initiative is demonstrated to proactively diagnose and resolve problems. 
  • Productive work habits are consistently displayed.
  • Accuracy and quality are maintained for all activities. 

 

Job Qualifications:  General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) required

  • 3 month Clinical Laboratory Accessioner Training preferred

 

Physical Demands: Physical, Mental and workplace Environment Conditions

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk and perform repetitive motion
  • Proficient visual and audio skills

 

Working Conditions: Workplace Environment Conditions

  • May be exposed to chemicals, body fluids.
  • Use of personal protective equipment

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school
  • Medical experience preferred
