About the Role:

The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative tasks within a medical facility. This position involves direct patient interaction, including preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and preparing patient's charts for the physicians. The Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment by properly sterilizing medical instruments and managing specimen processing. Additionally, this role requires effective communication skills between other physician  practices, practice staff members, and physicians. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to delivering high-quality patient care and enhancing the overall efficiency of the healthcare team.

We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full Time, Medical Assistant at Long Island Gastroenterology Specialists in Wantagh, NY.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
  • Assist healthcare providers during medical and examinations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of examination rooms to comply with health regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Support administrative tasks .

Skills:

The required skills such as Medical Assisting are essential for performing clinical duties accurately and safely, ensuring patient comfort and compliance with health standards. Drawing blood and taking vital signs are routine tasks that require precision and attention to detail to support diagnostic processes. Ability to multitask and perform testing is required. Preferred skills like familiarity with electronic health records and multitasking enable the Medical Assistant to manage administrative responsibilities efficiently while supporting clinical operations.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience working in a healthcare or clinical setting.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
  • Basic knowledge of medical instruments and sterilization procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Additional certifications such as CPR or First Aid.
