Job DetailsJob Location: HQ Walnut Creek GSM - WALNUT CREEK, CA 94598Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $30.00 - $45.00 Hourly  Golden State Dermatology is a physician-led and owned dermatology group rapidly expanding across California, with over 40 locations. We are a leading medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology group specializing in skin, hair, and nail conditions, Mohs micrographic surgery for the treatment of skin cancer, surgical and non-surgical cosmetic skincare, anti-aging, body contouring, and plastic surgery. Position Summary:  Join our dynamic team as a Histotech, where you'll play a critical role in advancing patient care through precise and expert-level histology work. As a vital member of our lab, you'll take on responsibilities such as embedding, cutting, processing, and performing H&E staining/cover slipping with the highest level of accuracy. This role also includes grossing biopsies and small specimens, ensuring all logs and protocols are meticulously maintained. Key Responsibilities: Efficiently cut 50-100 blocks per day, maintaining the highest quality standards. Skillfully cut sections of complex and small biopsy specimens with precision. Demonstrate independence and leadership in managing your workload and tasks. Foster a collaborative and professional environment while interacting with colleagues across all departments. Adhere to all health and safety protocols, ensuring a safe workplace. Perform meticulous quality control on sections and staining procedures to guarantee exceptional results. Execute routine H&E stains, special stains, and Immunoperoxidase with expertise. Handle STAT GMS stains and STAT specimen processing with efficiency and accuracy. Prioritize and organize specimens and tasks, delivering top-quality results quickly and efficiently. Be prepared to work overtime and assist with other shifts as needed to support the department. Participate in on-call rotations, responding promptly when paged. Thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced lab environment while managing multiple priorities. Engage positively in department meetings, contributing to team goals. Take on additional duties as the department safety officer, ensuring a safe lab environment. Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction and work seamlessly within a team. Adapt quickly to changes, take initiative, and show self-motivation. Communicate effectively, whether through active listening or professional email correspondence. Requirements: HT or HTL Certification (Preferred) Must meet CLIA/CA Grossing Guidelines CFR 493.1489 BS in a Laboratory Science or related field 2-3 years of histology experience Previous dermatopathology experience (Preferred) Skills & Expertise: Strong technical data interpretation skills and ability to troubleshoot. Familiarity with daily lab equipment: tissue processors, embedding stations, microtomes, cover slippers, and cassette printers. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and confident using the Internet for business purposes. Ability to multi-task and excel in a deadline-driven environment. Proven track record of driving service, quality, and continuous improvement in lab processes. Effective communication and teamwork, with a focus on client satisfaction.
