Nel Hydrogen is looking for an Applications Engineer to join our Applications Engineering team in Wallingford, CT. In this role, you will support sales, respond to customer technical questions, develop quotations, and contribute to equipment solutions that support Nel’s product sales.

Your new role

As an Applications Engineer, you will be a key technical contributor supporting our sales organization and customers throughout the quotation and sales process.

You will be involved in reviewing customer requirements, supporting technical discussions, preparing quotations for Nel hydrogen generators and related ancillary equipment, and collaborating with engineering on product documentation and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Support customer technical questions related to equipment features, operation, and documentation.

  • Assist sales colleagues during customer calls and prepare written responses to technical queries.

  • Guide customers through equipment installation in line with internal guidelines.

  • Review tender and equipment specifications and prepare clarifications and deviations where needed.

  • Build in-depth product knowledge, including product performance specifications.

  • Develop quotations for Nel hydrogen generators and supporting ancillary equipment.

  • Collaborate regularly with engineering as part of continuous improvement work related to documentation and new product features.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a technically strong and customer-focused engineer who enjoys translating customer needs into practical solutions, communicates clearly, and works in a structured, detail-oriented way with colleagues and customers.

You bring with you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, such as Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.

  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably within industrial equipment.

  • Experience from applications engineering or technical sales.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • A customer-focused approach and good listening skills.

  • High initiative and a creative approach to problem solving.

  • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Experience interfacing with international customers is considered an advantage.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.

  • Familiarity with industrial control systems or machine operation is a plus.
