MKRS Housekeeping Manager

Primary Responsibilities:   Supervise, inspect the cleaning of residences, MKRS offices, company vehicles, Kauna’oa recreational center.  Train and counsel employees to insure that all areas of responsibility operate in accordance to established standard operating procedure and hotel policies and procedures.  Communicates effectively with home owners, property managers and other departments to insure all of the needs or the guests are met or exceeded.

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Manage office operations.
  2. Process daily cleaning assignments.  i.e. RNS and or OPERA
  3. Manage emails & phone calls.
  4. Train, counsel, discipline and evaluate employees to insure proper standards are met.
  5. Monitor daily functions to ensure all areas are cleaned and maintained according to resort standards.
  6. Conduct safety training and Standard Operating Procedures and ensure standards are maintained and safety procedures followed.
  7. Assist with ordering operating supplies such as cleaning supplies, chemicals, paper supplies, uniforms, equipment, safety check and registrations. I.e. Aestiva
  8. Supervise employees following resort policies, procedures and the terms and conditions of the CBA.
  9. Respond and resolve Housekeeping concerns from guests or other departments in a timely manner.
  10. Assist Executive Housekeeper and Assistant with daily assignments.
  11. Certify guest accommodations for occupancy; oversee special assignments.
  12. Prioritize daily tasks and work assignments for the department, including demand scheduling.
  13. Conduct employee evaluations.
  14. Process weekly work schedules i.e. OnTrack.
  15. Manage department payroll i.e. KRONOS.
  16. Assist with forecasting and budget process.
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

 

Other Duties:

  1. Conduct regular department meetings, briefings and attend hotel meetings.
  2. Maintain resort’s lost and found system.
  3. Maintain department bulletin boards.
  4. Report items in guest rooms or hotel building in need of repair or maintenance.
  5. Assist in cleaning or other housekeeping services when needed.

 

Skills and Requirements:

  1. Computer literate, preferably Micros Soft Windows, KRONOS, Workforce, OnTrack, Aestevia, Outlook,
  2. Duties require reading, understanding and following written instructions.
  3. Duties require communications skills, conducting meetings and presentations such as power point.
  4. Duties require math skills, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.  Utilizing excel spreadsheets with formulas.
  5. Knowledge in cleaning methods, materials, chemicals, sanitation practices and best practices.
  6. CPR, First Aid certification preferred.

   

Working Conditions:

  1. Indoor, air-conditioned office environment and private homes rooms.
  2. Occasional handling of commercial detergents, cleaning solutions and cleansers.
  3. Frequent walking residences and inspecting outdoor areas of residences.
  4. Operate service vehicles
  5. Operate golf cart

 

Work Hours: 

  1. Must be able to be scheduled determined by Executive Housekeeper.
  2. Must be able to work long and irregular hours.
  3. Must be flexible with days off.
  4. Must be able to work more than 50 hours a week.

 

Equipment Use:         

  1. Computer with resort’s word, spreadsheet and other required software; facsimile and photocopiers.
  2. Telephone and radio
  3. Cleaning equipment and supplies such as dust cloths, brooms, dustpans, mops, buckets, vacuum cleaners and various cleaning solutions and disinfectants.

 

Mental and Physical Demands: 

  1. Require initiative in managing department in compliance with policies, practices and procedures.
  2. Provide guidance and direction to housekeeping employees, training and supervising their work.
  3. Require ability to prioritize daily tasks and work assignments for the department.
  4. Require considerable walking, standing, bending, reaching to inspect and supervise cleaning of guest rooms.
  5. Require occasional lifting and carrying equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 lbs. to assist room and house attendants
  6. Push/pull carts weighing more than 50 lbs.

  

Communication Demands:

  1. Must be able to effectively communicate on the phone or in person with guests, employees, and managers to give direction or resolve concerns.
  2. Effectively disperse information at department briefings and meetings. 
  3. Must be able to train and discipline employees.

 

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  1. Three years or more work related experience.
  2. Skills to effectively supervise employees
  3. Ability to multi-task
