Job Title: Prevention Education Specialist


Job Status: Full-time, exempt


Job Location:  Local Regional Office


Job Summary: Unbound Now Waco works to end human trafficking through youth prevention education, community awareness, professional training, and survivor support throughout the Heart of Texas region.

The Youth Prevention Specialist is responsible for providing age-appropriate prevention education that equips youth with the knowledge and skills to recognize unsafe situations, understand healthy relationships, identify grooming and exploitation, practice online safety, and seek help from trusted adults.

This position will build partnerships with schools, juvenile detention centers, youth-serving organizations, and community programs to expand access to prevention education. Special emphasis will be placed on reaching youth in rural and underserved communities, as well as populations that are often under-recognized, including youth who identify as LGBTQ+.

Schedule/Availability: Anticipated 40- 50-hour work week; Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 5:30 pm with occasional evenings and weekends


Travel: This position requires frequent travel within the immediate area and occasional travel out of the region for training.


Working Conditions: Work is performed in a variety of venues and environments. Work duties may, on rare occasions, be performed in an environment requiring exposure to weather extremes, fumes, odors, and noise.


Job Responsibilities:

Youth Prevention Education

  • Facilitate age-appropriate human trafficking prevention and personal safety education through classroom, assembly, small-group, and community-based presentations.
  • Administer multi-session prevention curricula in schools, juvenile detention centers, after-school programs, and other youth-serving settings.
  • Educate youth on healthy relationships, personal boundaries, grooming behaviors, online safety, exploitation, and how to seek help.
  • Create safe and engaging learning environments where youth feel respected, supported, and empowered.
  • Work with appropriate staff to adapt presentations and activities to meet the developmental, cultural, and learning needs of different audiences.
  • Follow organizational policies related to youth safety, permission requirements, confidentiality, documentation, and mandated reporting.
  • Respond appropriately when a young person shares a concern or makes an outcry, following Unbound Now’s reporting and referral procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of youth trends, social media platforms, online risks, human trafficking indicators, and evidence-informed prevention practices.

School and Community Partnerships

  • Develop and maintain relationships with schools, juvenile detention centers, youth-serving organizations, faith communities, and other community partners.
  • Work with school administrators, counselors, teachers, and youth program staff to schedule and coordinate prevention education.
  • Identify opportunities to expand prevention education throughout the Heart of Texas region, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
  • Communicate clearly with community partners regarding program goals, scheduling, participant needs, and required follow-up.
  • Represent Unbound Now at school meetings, community events, resource fairs, and collaborative initiatives related to youth safety and prevention.
  • Connect youth, families, and community partners with appropriate Unbound Now services and community resources when needed.

Parent, Caregiver, and Professional Education

  • Provide prevention-focused presentations to parents, caregivers, educators, and youth-serving professionals.
  • Equip adults to recognize indicators of grooming, exploitation, and human trafficking.
  • Educate adults on online safety, healthy relationships, risk factors, protective factors, and appropriate responses to youth concerns.
  • Help schools and organizations develop a stronger understanding of how to create safer environments for youth.
  • Provide information about available resources, reporting options, and survivor services.

Volunteer and Intern Support

  • Assist with recruiting, training, scheduling, and supporting volunteers and interns involved in youth prevention activities.
  • Model effective facilitation and provide guidance to individuals assisting with prevention presentations.
  • Ensure volunteers and interns follow Unbound Now’s youth-safety policies, presentation standards, and professional expectations.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership on volunteer and intern onboarding, supervision, and evaluation.

Program Administration and Evaluation

  • Coordinate prevention education requests, schedules, materials, partner communication, and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate records of presentations, participating organizations, youth and adults reached, and program outcomes.
  • Collect participant feedback and other program measurements to evaluate the effectiveness of prevention education.
  • Use feedback, current research, and emerging trends to strengthen presentations, curricula, and educational materials.
  • Ensure prevention materials are accurate, age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with Unbound Now’s standards.
  • Maintain organized program files and submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Participate in Unbound Now team meetings, trainings, activities, and community events.
  • Participate in the Heart of Texas Human Trafficking Coalition and other collaborations related to youth safety and prevention.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support Unbound Now’s youth prevention efforts and overall mission.

Working Relationships


Supervision Received: The Youth Prevention Specialist receives supervision from the Regional Director through regular meetings, coaching, and performance feedback.

Direct Reports: Volunteers and interns assigned to youth prevention activities, as appropriate.

Works With: Unbound Now Waco and Central Texas team members, organizational leadership, schools, juvenile detention centers, youth-serving organizations, educators, parents, caregivers, volunteers, interns,  community partners, and the Director of Prevention to provide best practices, guidance, and troubleshoot issues. 


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in social work or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to engage youth in one-on-one and group settings
  • Minimum of two years working with youth and diverse populations
  • Preferred: 1-2 years of leadership experience 

Job Requirements

  • Mature Christian faith, as evidenced by participation in a local Christian church
  • Agree to take and pass a criminal background check and pass employment authorization verification.
  • Provide at least three references (supervisor, professional, personal)
  • Knowledge of the field of human trafficking and the programs and operations of Unbound Now.
  • Fulfill Unbound Now’s pre-service, annual, and ongoing training requirements 
  • Strong commitment to the mission and values of Unbound Now and abiding by Unbound Now policies at all times.
  • Willingness to use personal vehicle for work travel; valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, current car insurance.
  • Submit expense documentation properly, travel reimbursement, time tracking (if applicable), and all training requirements within the required time frames per the company policies.

Physical and Driving Requirements

  • Demands include sitting for long periods at a computer and repetitive hand motions from frequent keyboarding or standing for long periods of time for presentations.
  • Demands frequently require close visual attention and prolonged mental concentration.
  • Demands frequent video calls.
  • Demands sometimes require the  ability to lift loads to 50 pounds 
  • Ability to drive personal vehicles and maintain proper insurance coverage.
