Position Purpose/Objective:

Under direct supervision, perform routine and repetitive inspection steps and defined by the step in the operations routing. Requires attention to detail, understanding drawings, mathematical measurements, soldering, potting material, and other measurement devices. Ensure work is accomplished with high quality workmanship standards and safety in a timely fashion and is compliant with all company, customers, and federal regulations.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

Technical Tasks

  • Perform basic component and end item inspection
  • Perform inspection in accordance with requirements of quality control designee (QCD).
  • Accurately read blueprints.
  • Demonstrate proper use of simple hand and machine tools.
  • Accurately read and follow procedures, routing and other work instructions.
  • Take ownership for accuracy of processes and understand impact of nonconforming work.
  • Demonstrate proper use of mechanical measuring devices.
  • Demonstrate proper use of electrical measuring devices.
  • Perform unique assembly processes. 

Customer Focus

  • Inspect parts to Simmonds Precision Product’s drawing specifications.
  • Comply with applicable elements of quality systems
  • Meet internal and external customer deadlines as determined by team. 

Project Work

  • Work successfully in a team environment.
  • Acquire applicable skill/knowledge/certification as required.
  • Comply with safety and hazardous waste disposal programs.
  • Handle multiple tasks and be openly flexible.
  • Request tools and supplies in accordance with company process and procedures as needed.
  • Follow plans for production schedules and quality requirements.
  • Understand end use of manufactured products.

Special Projects

  • Understand and use computer tools such as SAP and accurately follow work instructions.
  • Demonstrate initiative to keep processes moving and on schedule.
  • Achieve special process certification where applicable.
  • Train others for technical tasks as needed.
  • Demonstrate an active role in problem solving. 

Communication

  • Effectively interact with others.
  • Interface with other functional groups to update, inform, acknowledge or resolve problems related to business issues. 

Participation

  • Participate in waste minimization efforts.
  • Participate in audits.
  • Participate in continuous improvement productivity efforts.

Education Required:

  • Minimum Education Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum Experience: Less than 3 - 6 months of hands-on experience

Skills Required: Production experience is preferred.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and assembly instructions.
  • Must be able to effectively work in an environment requiring repetitive job responsibilities.
  • Ability to focus on safety and quality is extremely important.
  • Must be highly motivated and dedicated to exceed customer expectations.

Other Position Requirements:

  • Safety glasses and Personal protection clothing are required depending on task.
