Personal Care Aide

Beechwood Court is a nonprofit 46-bed Personal Care Community with a dedicated Personal Care Memory Care unit. We are looking for a Personal Care Aide to join our team.

About the Role:

The Personal Care Aide at Beechwood Court Personal Care plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by providing compassionate and attentive support tailored to their individual needs. This position involves assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity while promoting independence whenever possible. The aide will work closely with healthcare professionals and family members to implement care plans effectively and respond promptly to any changes in the resident's condition. Maintaining a clean and safe environment through strict adherence to infection control protocols is essential to protect both residents and staff. Ultimately, the Personal Care Aide contributes significantly to creating a supportive and nurturing atmosphere within the personal care community.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology relevant to personal care.
• Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with limited mobility.
• Strong understanding of infection control practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in an assisted living or long-term care setting.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Additional training in dementia care or chronic disease management.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities:

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
• Monitor and report any changes in residents’ health or behavior to nursing staff promptly.
• Implement infection control procedures to maintain a hygienic and safe environment.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a positive and respectful relationship.
• Document care provided and maintain accurate records in compliance with facility policies.
• Support residents with limited mobility by safely assisting with transfers and positioning.
• Demonstrate good judgment in responding to emergencies and routine care situations.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Skills:

The required skills such as infection control and direct patient care are applied daily to ensure residents’ health and safety, preventing the spread of illness within the facility. Patience and good judgment are essential when assisting residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive function, allowing the aide to provide personalized and respectful care. Familiarity with medical terminology enables clear communication with nursing staff and accurate documentation of care activities. Being self-directed allows the aide to manage their responsibilities efficiently while responding proactively to residents’ needs. Overall, these skills combine to deliver high-quality, compassionate care that supports the well-being and dignity of each resident.
