Job Description: Truck Driver - Oil and Gas Construction
Position Overview: The Truck Driver is responsible for safely transporting materials and equipment to and from job sites, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to safety regulations. Â Assist with parts runs and other assignments as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Safe Transportation:
- Operate commercial trucks to transport materials and equipment to designated locations.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company safety policies during transportation.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on assigned vehicles before and after each trip.
- Report any mechanical issues or concerns to the transportation supervisor promptly.
- Cargo Handling:
- Safely load and unload materials and equipment onto trucks, ensuring proper securing and balancing of cargo.
- Verify the accuracy of cargo manifests and shipping documentation.
- Route Planning:
- Plan efficient routes to minimize travel time and fuel consumption while considering road conditions and traffic patterns.
- Utilize GPS navigation systems and maps to navigate unfamiliar routes.
- Communication:
- Maintain effective communication with dispatchers, supervisors, and other team members to coordinate transportation activities.
- Report any delays, accidents, or incidents immediately to the appropriate personnel.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation regulations, including weight restrictions, hours of service, and hazardous materials handling.
- Complete and submit accurate transportation logs, trip reports, and inspection records as required.
- Customer Service:
- Provide courteous and professional customer service to clients, vendors, and other stakeholders during transportation activities.
- Handle inquiries, complaints, and requests promptly and professionally.
- Emergency Response:
- Follow established procedures and protocols in case of emergencies, accidents, or breakdowns during transportation.
- Take appropriate actions to ensure the safety of cargo and other road users.
- Environmental Awareness:
- Practice environmentally responsible driving habits, such as minimizing idling and reducing fuel consumption.
- Properly dispose of waste materials and hazardous substances in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Proven experience as a truck driver in a construction or similar industry.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
Conditions of Employment:
- Full-time, non-exempt position.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must pass drug and alcohol testing and background checks.
- I-9 eligibility.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and driving.
Travel Requirements:
- Local travel to job sites within the designated area.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required for longer hauls or remote locations.
