What isĀ GraduateĀ ResearcherĀ Program?Ā 

The GRP (GraduateĀ ResearcherĀ Program) is aĀ uniqueĀ 10-12 weekĀ internship programĀ designedĀ specificallyĀ for students pursuing their PhD.Ā GRP is a hybrid experience of real-world industry work experience combined with development programming that exposes students to Boeing, its products,Ā servicesĀ and its people.Ā Ā GRP focuses on deeply connecting students to their teamĀ and BoeingĀ through work experience across multiple summersĀ with theĀ goalĀ ofĀ ultimatelyĀ offeringĀ a full-time position at the conclusion of academic studiesĀ if a mutual fit is achieved.Ā Ā Ā 

HowĀ GRPĀ Works:Ā 

GRP host teamsĀ postĀ intern requisitionsĀ aligned with Boeing’s strategic needs, aiming to matchĀ their needsĀ with top PhD talent. Once candidates apply and are selected, they receive an offer to spend the following summer working with their host team. The program is designed to give interns meaningful, hands-on experience at Boeing, allowing them to apply their academicĀ expertiseĀ while contributing to real-world industry challenges and opportunities.Ā 

In addition toĀ industryĀ workĀ exposure, students attend GRP programming toĀ furtherĀ broadenĀ their experience andĀ knowledgeĀ ofĀ Boeing.Ā Ā GRP programmingĀ componentsĀ include:Ā Ā mentorship in your field of study,Ā weeklyĀ Featured Speaker Talks, a week-long in-personĀ GRP Summit,Ā participation in anĀ Innovation Challenge,Ā and other opportunities toĀ interact and build a professional networkĀ withĀ other GRP students, Boeing team members,Ā andĀ BoeingĀ leadership.Ā

We are seeking students who will haveĀ completed theirĀ first year of studyĀ in their PhD program by July 2027Ā andĀ are passionate about the aerospace industry and Boeing. GRP students excel at quicklyĀ adapting to their roles, analyzing complex problems, and developing innovative solutions. They thrive in collaborative team environments andĀ possessĀ excellent communication skills.Ā Above all, theyĀ are driven to contribute to the success of their team, fellow GRP students, and Boeing.Ā 

2027Ā GRP Position:Ā 

The Boeing AI organization provides innovative AI technologies that enable the development of future aerospace solutions while improving the cycle time, cost, quality and performance of existing Boeing products and services.Ā 

Employees work in a dynamic and distributed environment where the initiative and contribution of each team member is critical to success.Ā Ā The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a distributed (and international) team. Many projects are multi-year and end with the successful transition and integration of new capabilities to Boeing end-product deployment. Project work can be funded by Independent Research and Development, Contracted Research and Development, or support to an internal Business Unit.Ā 

A successful candidate will be a highly motivated Artificial Intelligence Software Engineer with software development, AI application, and machine learning knowledge.Ā 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.Ā  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a ā€œU.S. Personā€ as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required.Ā  ā€œU.S. Personā€ includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Job Related Information /Ā BasicĀ Qualifications:Ā 

  • Completed the first year of PhD studies by July 2027Ā 

  • Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during Summer 2027

  • Pursuing a PhD inĀ Computer Science,Ā Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Math, SoftwareĀ EngineeringĀ or similar discipline.Ā 

  • Experience preparing data for,Ā developing,Ā and evaluating learned modelsĀ 

  • Experience with programming languages and data tools such as Python,Ā Matlab, C++, C or Java as well as SQL, Teradata, Tableau, Gephi or Airflow.Ā Ā

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Ā 

  • Master of Science in Computer Science, Data Science or similarĀ field

  • 1+ years relevant experience including jobs, internships, and assistantshipsĀ 

  • Experience with Machine Learning development and deployment pipeline,Ā i.e.Ā from data to modelĀ 

  • Experience with AgileĀ methodologyĀ and repositories, such as ADO,Ā JIRAĀ and GitĀ
