The Business Development Representative develops strategic relationships with organizations that employee CDL drivers, including trucking companies, logistics providers, distribution operations, and commercial fleets. This role creates employer partnerships that support workforce needs, strengthens hiring pipeline, and contributes to enrollment growth for SWTDT training programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, research, and engage businesses that employ or need CDL-licensed drivers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with HR leaders, fleet directors, and logistics executives and other hiring decision makers.
- Develop employer-focused workforce solutions, including training sponsorships, tuition reimbursement arrangements, and direct hire pipelines.
- Partner with the admissions and placement teams to align training capacity, student opportunities and employer demand.
- Attend relevant networking events, trade shows, and association meetings as needed to expand SWTDT’s presence and generate qualified leads.
- Maintain accurate employer contacts, activities, meetings, and partnership outcomes in the company’s CRM system.
- Meet or exceed monthly goals for new employer partnerships and signed agreements.
- Gather and report market and industry intelligence to help shape strategic growth initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in business-to-business sales, workforce development, recruiting, or transportation/logistics partnerships.
- Demonstrated ability to generate leads, develop a pipeline, and close partnership agreements.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Self-directed workstyle with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with the trucking and logistics industry and/or CDL licensing process is a strong plus.
- High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the trucking and logistics industry or the CDL licensing and training process.
- Established relationships with transportation companies, freight brokers, or distribution centers or commercial fleet operators.
- Experience in staffing, recruiting, workforce training, or employer-services programs.
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
- Veteran status a plus
