POSITION SUMMARY

The Delivery Driver / Courier is an essential member of the League Industries team responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of products, materials, documents, mail, and other items between League Industries, customers, vendors, partner organizations, and designated delivery locations.

This position serves as a professional representative of The League for People with Disabilities and League Industries while operating company vehicles and interacting with customers, community partners, staff, and vendors.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, organized, customer-focused, and able to work independently while maintaining excellent communication with the Operations team.

The Delivery Driver / Courier plays an important role in supporting League Industries' production and business operations by ensuring that completed work reaches customers accurately and on schedule.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

 Delivery & Transportation

  • Safely operate League Industries/company vehicles to transport products, packages, mail, documents, supplies, and other authorized materials.
  • Complete assigned delivery and pickup routes efficiently and professionally.
  • Load, secure, transport, unload, and deliver materials while taking reasonable precautions to prevent damage.
  • Verify delivery quantities and items before leaving the facility.
  • Obtain required signatures, delivery confirmations, or other documentation.
  • Follow established delivery schedules and communicate delays or route changes promptly.
  • Assist with pickups from customers, vendors, and designated locations.
  • Return completed paperwork, receipts, delivery records, and other required documentation to the appropriate department.
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of materials being transported.

 Package & Material Handling

  • Sort and organize items according to delivery routes.
  • Handle packages, boxes, mail, supplies, and production materials appropriately.
  • Inspect items for visible damage before departure and report concerns to management.
  • Use appropriate lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and material-handling techniques.
  • Maintain an organized delivery area within the vehicle.
  • Ensure packages are properly secured during transportation.

 Customer Service & Professional Representation

  • Provide courteous, professional, and respectful service to customers and community partners.
  • Represent League Industries and The League positively during all interactions.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with customers, vendors, staff, and members of the community.
  • Respond appropriately to customer questions and direct issues to the appropriate staff member when necessary.
  • Protect customer information and organizational information from unauthorized disclosure.
  • Maintain a professional appearance consistent with League Industries' dress and appearance standards.

Documentation & Communication

  • Accurately complete delivery logs, mileage records, vehicle inspection forms, receipts, and other required documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of pickups and deliveries.
  • Immediately report accidents, vehicle concerns, damaged packages, missing items, delivery discrepancies, or customer concerns.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Operations Manager or designated supervisor.
  • Use company communication systems appropriately while following all applicable safety requirements.
  • Notify management as soon as possible regarding route delays, traffic issues, vehicle problems, or inability to complete an assigned delivery.

VEHICLE SAFETY & COMPLIANCE

  • Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Report mechanical, safety, or maintenance concerns immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly company vehicle.
  • Follow all Maryland traffic laws and applicable transportation regulations.
  • Practice defensive driving at all times.
  • Wear a seatbelt whenever operating or riding in a company vehicle.
  • Never operate a company vehicle while impaired by alcohol, drugs, medication, fatigue, or any other condition that makes driving unsafe.
  • Follow company policies regarding cell phone use and distracted driving.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and any other driving credentials required for the position.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record consistent with organizational and insurance requirements.

TEAMWORK & ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT

  • Work cooperatively with Production, Operations, Sales, Administration, and other League Industries departments.
  • Assist with general warehouse, production, or operational duties when deliveries are not scheduled, as assigned.
  • Support the team during high-volume production and delivery periods.
  • Demonstrate flexibility when routes, priorities, or delivery schedules change.
  • Maintain a positive and solutions-oriented approach to daily responsibilities.
  • Follow all League Industries and The League for People with Disabilities policies and procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets organizational and insurance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Previous delivery, courier, transportation, warehouse, logistics, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, staff, vendors, and supervisors.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to work independently with appropriate supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Basic ability to complete written and electronic documentation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous commercial delivery or courier experience.
  • Experience using GPS/navigation systems.
  • Experience with route planning.
  • Experience working in a warehouse, production, mailroom, or logistics environment.
  • Familiarity with delivery documentation and electronic proof-of-delivery systems.
  • Strong customer service background.

SCHEDULE & ATTENDANCE

Because delivery operations are dependent upon customer schedules and production requirements, consistent attendance, punctuality, and dependability are essential functions of this position.

The employee must:

  • Arrive on time and prepared to work.
  • Follow the assigned schedule and delivery routes.
  • Communicate absences or anticipated lateness according to organizational policy.
  • Be flexible when reasonable operational needs require changes to routes or assignments.
  • Complete assigned deliveries within established timeframes whenever reasonably possible.

The employee is responsible for following all applicable safety procedures and organizational policies.

The Delivery Driver / Courier may have access to confidential customer, employee, business, production, or organizational information. Such information must be protected and only shared with authorized individuals.

Any accident, injury, vehicle incident, damaged or missing package, security concern, or other safety issue must be reported immediately according to organizational procedures.
