  • The role requires a minimum of 5 years of professional soldering experience and offers a salary of $70,000 per year.
  • Key responsibilities include troubleshooting non-functioning boards, managing component inventory, and ensuring quality control of assembled boards.
  • Candidates must be U.S. citizens and demonstrate the ability to read electronic schematics and perform basic PCBA troubleshooting.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electronics Technician to join our hardware team. The primary focus of this role is precision soldering and assembling Printed Circuit Board Assemblies. Beyond assembly, you will act as the first line of quality control by troubleshooting boards that fail testing, finding electrical shorts, and identifying faulty components. Additionally, you will help maintain our lab space by managing component inventory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Precision Soldering: Serve as the primary soldering technician, working with both Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and through-hole components to build and rework PCBAs.
  • PCBA Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair non-functioning boards. You will use standard lab equipment (multimeters, microscopes, etc.) to trace circuitry, locate electrical shorts, and identify damaged or incorrect components.
  • Inventory Management: Track, organize, and manage electronic components, lab supplies, and hardware inventory to ensure seamless production and prototyping.
  • Quality Control: Inspect assembled boards to ensure they meet professional soldering standards before they move to final testing or deployment.

Required Qualifications

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional soldering experience in a manufacturing, prototyping, or repair environment.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Proven ability to perform basic PCBA troubleshooting down to the component level (e.g., finding shorts, identifying dead components, verifying continuity).
  • Documentation: Ability to accurately read and interpret electronic schematics, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Desired Qualifications

  • Reflow Experience: Hands-on experience setting up, operating, or profiling a prototyping reflow oven process.
  • Certifications: Active or previous IPC certifications (such as IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001).
  • Micro-Soldering: Comfort working with extremely small component packages (e.g., 0402 or 0201 sizes).
