Description

Join our team as the Parts Manager, oversee the purchasing, inventory management, and distribution of parts and supplies needed to keep the company's fleet operating efficiently. This role partners with Fleet Maintenance, Operations, Procurement, vendors, and company leadership to ensure parts availability, inventory accuracy, cost control, and fleet uptime. The Parts Manager also leads Parts Specialists across multiple markets and supports continuous improvement through strategic sourcing and inventory management practices.


What You'll Do:

  • Manage fleet parts inventory, including receiving, stocking, issuing, returning, and replenishing parts.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure parts are properly organized, labeled, and stored.
  • Establish and monitor inventory levels based on fleet needs, usage trends, and lead times.
  • Identify and manage obsolete, excess, damaged, or slow-moving inventory.
  • Conduct inventory audits, reconcile discrepancies, and maintain accurate reporting.
  • Analyze parts usage trends to improve purchasing and inventory planning.
  • Partner with maintenance, operations, procurement, and vendors to support fleet maintenance needs and minimize downtime.
  • Source and purchase OEM, aftermarket, and specialty parts while balancing quality, availability, and cost.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, and manufacturers.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, warranties, and delivery schedules with vendors.
  • Ensure parts are available for preventive maintenance and repair activities.
  • Expedite critical and backordered parts to reduce vehicle and equipment downtime.
  • Track purchase orders, invoices, warranties, returns, vendor credits, and core returns.
  • Maintain accurate data within fleet management systems.
  • Prepare reports on inventory value, turnover, purchasing activity, and parts-related expenses.
  • Establish and enforce inventory control procedures, safety practices, and parts room organization standards.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Parts Specialists across all markets.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management of team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 to 5 years related experience in an automotive, diesel, or parts/service environment for multiple locations.
  • 2 to 4 years of leadership/people or functional oversight experience.
  • Strong experience with inventory optimization (min/max, turns, obsolesce)
  • Proficiency with cost control and budgeting.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in vendor negotiations and warranty recovery.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License in state of residence.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions such as data entry or inventory handling.
  • Frequent use of computers, telephones, and standard office equipment.
  • May occasionally be exposed to a shop or warehouse environment, which can include moderate noise levels, temperature variations, and moving mechanical parts.
