The Opportunity
To support our continued growth, VMG is seeking a skilled and dependable Installation Technician to join our team in Sterling, VA.
This field-based role is responsible for installing and supporting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on commercial construction projects. The Installation Technician will work closely with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to complete installations safely, accurately, and according to schedule.
The ideal candidate has hands-on MEP experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to craftsmanship, safety, and customer service.
What You'll Do
Installation & Field Execution

Install and assist with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems according to approved plans and specifications

Support the installation of HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, and related components

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation

Complete assigned installations accurately and within project schedules

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel

Represent VMG professionally when interacting with customers and project partners
Testing & Troubleshooting

Perform system checks to verify proper operation and code compliance

Identify installation issues and assist with troubleshooting and corrective work

Communicate equipment deficiencies, material needs, and field concerns promptly

Help ensure completed work meets VMG's quality standards and project requirements
Safety & Worksite Organization

Follow all company safety policies and applicable construction regulations

Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition

Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of avoidable hazards

Use required personal protective equipment and follow established jobsite procedures
What We're Looking For
-
Minimum 2 years of hands-on MEP installation experience in a commercial or industrial environment

Working knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, and/or basic electrical components

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documents
-
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
-
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
-
Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a field team
-
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to work in varying weather conditions and active construction environments
