Company Overview

Our company is a private equity–backed platform in the fiber optic cable and connectors industry, currently at approximately $20M in revenue and scaling rapidly through acquisition. We have completed three acquisitions to date, with additional transactions in progress and more expected. This is a high-growth, fast-paced environment for a finance professional who wants to build a function from the ground up and have a direct, visible impact on how the company plans, forecasts, and makes decisions.

Position Summary

We are creating our first-ever FP&A function and looking for a hands-on FP&A Manager to build it. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will give leadership, site operators, and the PE ownership group the information and analysis they need to drive results — from annual budgeting and rolling forecasts to daily KPI reporting and cash visibility. This is a builder role for someone who wants to design processes and tools from scratch rather than inherit an established playbook, and who is energized by the pace and ambiguity of an active M&A environment. The FP&A Manager will work in close partnership with the Controller and broader accounting team, but will own planning, forecasting, and performance reporting — distinct from the Controller's focus on accounting operations, close, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process across all sites, partnering with site and functional leaders to build accurate, bottoms-up plans.
  • Design and implement a monthly forecasting process, replacing ad hoc or non-existent forecasting with a consistent, repeatable cadence.
  • Build rolling forecast models that flex as the platform adds new acquisitions and sites.
  • Lead monthly budget-to-actual and forecast variance analysis, identifying key drivers and communicating them clearly to the CFO and site leaders.

Reporting & KPIs

  • Design and implement automated daily and monthly reporting for Sales and Operations KPIs, giving leadership real-time visibility into business performance.
  • Build standardized management reporting packages for the CFO, executive team, and PE ownership group.
  • Own the recurring board/investor reporting package, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and on-time delivery.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools that reduce manual data pulls and give site leaders self-service access to their own performance data.

Cash Flow

  • Own daily cash reporting and rolling cash flow forecasting across all entities.
  • Prepare lender/covenant compliance reporting, including covenant calculations and borrowing base certificates as required.
  • Partner with the Controller and site teams to impro.ve visibility and accuracy of cash inputs as the company centralizes accounting

Systems

  • Lead the selection and implementation of a financial budgeting, forecasting, and reporting (FP&A) system.
  • Serve as a key member of the broader ERP implementation team, representing planning, reporting, and analytics needs in system design and configuration decisions.

M&A & Integration

  • Lead acquisition integration from a financial planning perspective, including pro-forma reporting and post-close performance tracking.
  • Support financial due diligence on prospective acquisitions, including modeling, data room support, and analysis as needed.
  • Help standardize budgeting, forecasting, and KPI reporting across newly acquired entities as they integrate into the platform.

Business Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted analytical partner to site and functional leaders, translating financial data into actionable insight.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities in business performance and proactively bring them to the CFO's attention.
  • Take on additional ad hoc analysis and special projects as the function and company evolve.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA a plus
  • 7–10+ years of progressive FP&A experience, including experience building or significantly maturing a planning/reporting function.
  • Experience in a private equity–backed, multi-entity, or M&A-active environment strongly preferred.
  • Manufacturing industry experience a plus, not required.
  • Strong financial modeling skills, including cash flow forecasting and pro-forma/acquisition modeling.
  • Experience selecting or implementing FP&A/planning systems (e.g., Datarails, Adaptive Insights, Vena, Anaplan, Planful) and/or participating in ERP implementations.
  • Advanced Excel skills; comfort building reporting and dashboards from imperfect or multi-source data.
  • Experience with a BI/visualization tool (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for building KPI dashboards a strong plus.
  • Strong communicator, comfortable presenting to executive leadership and ownership.
  • Self-starter who thrives building processes from scratch in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed to other site locations

What Success Looks Like in the First 12–18 Months

- A repeatable monthly forecasting process in place across all sites.

- Automated daily/monthly KPI reporting live for Sales and Operations.

- Daily cash reporting and rolling cash forecast fully operational.

- FP&A/planning system selected and implementation underway or complete.

- Clean, consistent pro-forma reporting supporting each new acquisition.

- Established as a trusted right hand to the CFO and a go-to analytical resource for site and functional leaders.

Why This Role

This is a rare opportunity to build an FP&A function from zero at a company in the early innings of an aggressive growth-through-acquisition strategy. You'll have direct exposure to the CFO and ownership group, a real mandate to shape how the company plans and measures performance, and the chance to grow the function — and your own scope — as the platform scales.
