Indicon LLC is seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Purchasing Agent to join our growing team in Sterling Heights, Michigan. As a Purchasing Agent, you will play an important role in supporting our operations by working directly with suppliers, issuing and managing purchase orders, tracking material deliveries, and ensuring project teams receive the materials and services they need to execute successfully. You will gain hands-on experience while working alongside experienced procurement professionals and business leaders committed to your development and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, process, and manage purchase orders for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to understand purchasing requirements and project timelines.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and order status.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and proactively address delivery issues or delays.
  • Assist with supplier selection, vendor qualification, and sourcing activities.
  • Analyze quotes and supplier proposals to identify the best value solutions.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation within company systems.
  • Support inventory and material planning efforts to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Assist with cost reduction initiatives and supplier performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, accounting, and operations personnel.
  • Track and report key procurement metrics and purchasing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and demonstrated initiative.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship, co-op, or professional experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, inventory management, or sourcing.
  • Automotive, manufacturing, industrial, construction, or engineering industry experience.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of purchasing processes, supplier management, and inventory control practices.
  • Exposure to contract review, supplier negotiations, and commercial terms.
  • Experience analyzing data and preparing reports using Microsoft Excel.

Schedule & Work Expectations

This position supports a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment and is expected to maintain a 50-hour work week.

Typical working hours are:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, or
  • Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Candidates should be comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment, managing competing priorities, and responding to changing project and operational needs
