Job Summary Sweet Briar College is seeking an experienced, results-oriented Senior Admissions Counselor to join the Department of Enrollment Management. This position plays a key role in recruiting, engaging, and enrolling prospective students while managing an assigned recruitment territory and student portfolio from initial inquiry through enrollment. The Senior Admissions Counselor is expected to bring demonstrated experience in college admissions, strong relationship-building and consultative recruitment skills, sound judgment, and a data-informed approach to territory and pipeline management. In addition to carrying an individual recruitment portfolio, this role will serve as an experienced resource to colleagues, contribute to counselor training and best-practice sharing, and help strengthen the overall effectiveness of the Admissions team. QualificationsPosition Type / Expected Work Hours This is a full-time, onsite position, Monday through Friday, with regular flexibility required for recruitment travel, campus programs, evening and weekend events, and other enrollment activities. This is not a remote or hybrid position. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in college admissions, enrollment management, student recruitment, or a closely related higher education function. Demonstrated success managing a recruitment territory, student portfolio, admissions funnel, or comparable enrollment goals. Strong understanding of the college recruitment and admissions process, including prospect development, application completion, yield, and enrollment conversion. Experience using a CRM or student recruitment platform to manage communication, activity, and pipeline performance; experience with Slate is strongly preferred. Exceptional oral and written communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to interpret enrollment data, identify trends, prioritize outreach, and adjust recruitment strategies based on results. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, travel, and a high-volume student portfolio. Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative, results-focused team environment. Ability and willingness to coach, mentor, and share effective practices with less-experienced team members. Valid driver’s license and ability to meet College requirements for operating a motor vehicle. Commitment to educating and empowering young women and to advancing Sweet Briar College’s mission and long-term success. Preferred Qualifications Four or more years of college admissions or enrollment recruitment experience. Experience with Slate CRM. Experience recruiting for a private liberal arts college, women’s college, or similarly high-touch residential institution. Experience developing yield strategies, using enrollment analytics, training admissions staff, or leading recruitment initiatives. Work Environment Primarily office-based when not traveling, with regular movement across campus and occasional outdoor exposure during events. Evening and weekend work is required periodically based on recruitment travel and event schedules. Physical Demands Prolonged periods of computer use and regular walking across campus and recruitment venues. Ability to lift and transport recruitment materials weighing up to 20 pounds. Travel Regular seasonal travel is required for assigned recruitment territories, college fairs, school visits, outreach programs, and professional development. Overnight and occasional weekend travel should be expected during peak recruitment periods.
