This role is a 3:00pm-11:00pm shift with every other weekend.
The Unit Coordinator will collaborate with internal and external resources to provide administrative and operational support to the clinical unit. This individual serves as a central contact to the wider community for customer service, facilitating patient centered care through values of the organization. The Unit Coordinator is a liaison for physicians, nurses, ancillary staff, patients, families and care partners. In a fast paced environment, the incumbent must be successful at working independently while managing the details of highly confidential information critical to the efficient function of the organization.

- Greets individuals coming to the unit, provide directions, information, responds to needs and requests.
- Respects and protects the patient’s rights to confidentiality and privacy and discloses information only for professional purposes with collaboration of licensed nurse.
- Performs service recovery and communicates as a care team to achieve the desired patient outcome.
- Maintains high standards of service to patients, physicians and other hospital departments.

- Planning, Prioritizing, Problem Solving and Decision Making
- Prepares compiles and maintains the patient’s medical record on the nursing unit, both paper and paperless charts in compliance with HIMMS Level 7 certification from admission through discharge, utilizing the current I.S. system.
- Complies with hospital attendance policy and department staffing policy and rotations.Â
- Ability to manage multiple competing tasks, develop effective plan for accomplishing daily tasks and manage priorities and allocation of available resources along with care team.
- Responds to crisis in a calm, efficient manner, directing others concisely.
- Participates in ongoing regulatory readiness compliance.
- Communicating Effectively/Delegation
- Manages the unit’s communication systems (phone, pagers, voceras, patient call bells, fax, etc.), to facilitate communication between members of the health care team, the patient, family and care partner.
- Responds to the patient call bell system and Vocera. Contacts nursing personnel as appropriate and follows through ensuring the needs of our patients have been met.Â
- Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team and related departments to provide accurate information about the care of the patients.
- Keeps all unit caregivers informed of issues and policies that affect patient care or nursing practices by actively participating in the shared governance.
- Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with peers, managers and other team members
- A clear direction and collaborates responsibility when appropriate.
- Performs duties as assigned or requested in order to maintain a high level of service.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Technical Knowledge
- Ability to utilize, navigate and provide instruction on the electronic medical record.
- Orders and maintains equipment and utilizes supplies in a safe, cost effective manner.
- Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Minimum of high school diploma, GED or equivalent required
- Strong customer service and intrapersonal skills required.
- Competency with Microsoft Windows based software preferred.
- Prior experience with telephone reception highly preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment is required.
- Must be willing to adapt well to changing priorities, instant deadlines, and constant interruptions.
- Requires advanced interpersonal/communication skills.
