Night Auditor is responsible for greeting guests upon arrival and ensuring they feel welcome and comfortable throughout their stay. The primary focus of a Night Auditor is to engage with guests in a caring and positive manner, using active listening skills to understand and address their needs and preferences. The Night Auditor also performs nightly hotel accounting reports. Stamford Marriott  operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS This description is a summary of primary responsibilities and qualifications.  The job description is not intended to include all duties or qualifications that may be required now or in the future.  Prepare daily Revenue Report data by auditing Micros tapes/journals to break down revenue, covers, server's tips paid out and settlements by type and cashier. Run audit reports/journals. Make corrections and adjustments and handle all computer problems that might occur throughout their shift.   Balance all revenue and settlement accounts nightly, maintain files and reset the system for next day operations. Perform other duties and responsibilities asked by the Front Office Manager, Director Finance and the Assistant Controller based upon department needs. Ensure all necessary copies of documents/back-up and reports of daily work are distributed to the proper person (i.e. A/R, A/P, GM). Review and correct discrepancies in the Front Desk System. Coordinate with the front desk and restaurant/bar closing to facilitate a smooth operation of file maintenance and reset of system totals for next day operations. Greeting guests immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome.  Use a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to understand requests, respond with appropriate action and provide accurate information such as outlet hours and local attractions. Verify and imprint credit cards for authorization using electronic acceptance methods.  Handle cash; make change and balance assigned house bank.  Accept and record vouchers and other forms of payment.  Perform accurate, moderately complex arithmetic functions using a calculator.  Post charges to guest rooms and house accounts using the computer. Promptly answer the telephone using positive and clear English communication.  Input messages into the computer.  Retrieve messages and communicate the content to the guest.   Retrieve mail, small packages and facsimiles for customers as requested. Adheres to all Stamford Marriott policies and procedures. All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. (Specific standards outlined in the hotel employee handbook). Assist other Front Desk Personnel when needed. Perform any related duties as requested by supervisor/manager. QualificationsQualifications and Physical Requirements: Previous experience in front desk or customer service roles, with a professional presentation. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Basic knowledge of computer systems. Ability to stand for extended periods. Flexibility to work various shifts, including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
