JOB TITLE: PR/Communications Assistant
LOCATION: St. Paul CampusPAY RATE: 16.50
JOB SUMMARY
The PR/Communications team within the University of St. Thomas Marketing, Insights and Communications department is seeking an organized, detail-oriented student to support communications operations, including the St. Thomas Newsroom.
The PR/Communications Assistant will help publish and organize content, support the biweekly Newsroom newsletter, monitor communications inboxes and assist Communications and Public Relations staff with projects. This position provides hands-on experience with public relations, digital publishing, editorial planning and professional communications.
This position may be eligible for internship credit in the second semester, in addition to hourly pay.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Gather and load content for the biweekly Newsroom newsletter
- Publish and format stories and other content in WordPress
- Create Professional Notes and assist with In the News items as needed
- Upload images and add metadata, alt text and photo captions
- Monitor Newsroom and St. Thomas magazine inboxes and route information as appropriate
- Update school, college and other Newsroom landing pages
- Assist with basic quality checks before publication
- Help maintain content calendars, planning documents and Communications/PR spreadsheets
- Assist Communications and Public Relations staff with research, tracking and other projects as needed

- Communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, English and related majors are especially encouraged to apply, but students from any major are welcome
- WordPress or other content-management experience is helpful but not required; training will be provided
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
