Ontivity’sĀ Lead Tower HandĀ is responsible forĀ leading efforts in the erection, construction, and maintenance of communication tower sites. This role provides support to the Foreman/Construction Manager and Project Manager in the supervision of all tower crew personnel. Ensuring all OSHA requirements and company safety procedures are followed.Ā Ā

Key ResponsibilitiesĀ Ā 

Ā 

• Lead work on tower top, looking after all aspects of work while on the tower, ensuring that a safe and quality installation has been performed, including rigging, hoisting, landing, fastening, load-hopping, etc.Ā Ā 

• Installation of up-top equipment including masts, clamping, bracing, supports, antennas, RRUs, cabling, bolting, true-ingĀ up, shooting proper azimuth within tolerances, reading maps and a compass,Ā torqueingĀ to spec, labeling, picture-taking, documentation, plumb and tilt readings with smart level, etc.Ā AssistĀ withĀ integrating all closeout requirements are an absolute must.Ā Ā

• Perform coax, fiber, line, and hybrid cable installations, connector installation, sweep and test assisting, weather proofing, color-coding, labeling, etc. connect coax feedlines and jumpers per piping diagrams, and support and fasten adequately for a quality, lasting installation.Ā Ā 

• Complete grounding, terminations, fastening, proper bolting and antioxidant use, support of leads, cadwelding asĀ required, etc.Ā Ā 

• AssistĀ with overall tasksĀ requiredĀ to build and install a site per customer specs,Ā maintainĀ safe work environment, dailyĀ useĀ and completion of Jobsite Hazard Assessment (JHA) forms,Ā assistingĀ with overall crew work, maintenance of vehicles and equipment, etc.Ā Ā

• Ensure highest level of safety and quality control requirements are upheld and mentor less experienced crew members in safety awarenessĀ Ā

• Able to photograph work related tasks as needed for close out packagesĀ Ā

• AssistĀ in the coordination, preparation, and cleaning of job sitesĀ Ā 

Ā 

• Help lead the efforts in the assembly of monopole, self-support guyedĀ towersĀ and roof topsĀ Ā 

Ā 

• AssistĀ in the antenna installation of microwave parabolic 1 to 15ft, VHF, UHF, cellular and FM broadcast antennas isĀ requiredĀ Ā 

Ā 

• Lead the transmission line and installationĀ Ā 

Ā 

• Must be willing to continue to work towards training and certifications for tower related workĀ Ā 

• Must know how to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.Ā Ā 

Ā 

• Able to lead safety meeting asĀ requiredĀ Ā 

Ā 

• Responsible for tool inventory and daily upkeep of the job siteĀ Ā 

Ā

• Must be able to climb and perform work at various heights, up to 500 feet, forĀ long periodsĀ of time and multiple timesĀ Ā

• Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 pounds; includes body weight, equipment,Ā toolsĀ and boxesĀ Ā 

Ā 

• Must be able to pull his/her own body weight plus equipment weight up a vertical tower repeatedly forĀ long periodsĀ of timeĀ Ā 

Ā 

• Must be willing to travel out of market/state for up to several weeks at a time (50-90%)Ā Ā 

Ā 

• Must pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing;Ā participateĀ in random testing programĀ Ā 

Ā 

• May beĀ requiredĀ to work long and unpredictable hoursĀ Ā 

Ā 

• Position requires working outdoors in all types of weatherĀ Ā 

Ā 

• MustĀ possessĀ validĀ driver’s license and areĀ requiredĀ to drive company vehicles. A commercial driver’s license (CDL) is a plusĀ Ā

Minimum QualificationsĀ Ā

• Ability toĀ operateĀ aerial lifts, man lifts, skidĀ steersĀ and aerial platform equipmentĀ Ā 

Ā 

• Successful completion of Safety in Rigging/Competent Rigger courseworkĀ requiredĀ Ā 

Ā 

• Completion of Industrial First Aid and Rescue TrainingĀ Ā 

Ā 

• OSHA 10hr Training Certification/OSHA 30hr preferredĀ Ā 

Ā 

• RF Awareness CertificationĀ Ā 

Ā 

• Ability to troubleshoot and correct mechanical or LV electrical connectionsĀ Ā 

Ā 

• Exceptional knowledge of Fall Protection practice and procedures and tower life saving techniquesĀ Ā 

Ā

• Communicate effectively in person, by phone and radio with Supervisor,Ā ForemanĀ and co-workersĀ Ā

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work Ā 

This is a full-time position with a typical scheduleĀ ofĀ Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with overtime requirements.Ā Ā 

Ā 

Travel Ā 

Extensive travel isĀ requiredĀ for this position. Usually between 50 to 90% of the time.Ā Ā 

Ā 

Required Education and Experience Ā 

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); related trade school education preferredĀ Ā 

Ā 

• Three years’ experience in climbing towers, stacking, rigging, etc.Ā Ā
