Description

The Senior Mechanical Engineer leads and supports mechanical design, prototyping, testing, manufacturability, and design transfer for New Deantronics products, including the Curie robotic system. This role owns mechanical designs for components, assemblies, interfaces, disposable end effectors, carts, housings, tooling, fixtures, and verification activities from concept through transfer to manufacturing.

What You'll Do

  • Lead mechanical design and development of products, components, assemblies, disposables, carts, housings, control-system enclosures, and mechanical interfaces from concept through design transfer.
  • Design, prototype, test, and integrate sterile disposable end effectors and robotic cart features, including sterility, packaging, biocompatibility, usability, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability considerations.
  • Create, review, and maintain SolidWorks models, drawings, specifications, tolerances, bills of materials, test fixtures, tooling, assembly aids, and prototype components.
  • Evaluate mechanical feasibility, product performance, reliability, usability, alignment, motion, rigidity, repeatability, wear, manufacturability, and service risks.
  • Apply design-for-manufacturing, design-for-assembly, design-for-test, and design-for-service principles to improve design maturity and build quality.
  • Support design control activities, including design inputs, outputs, reviews, risk analysis, FMEA, verification, validation, protocols, reports, and documented deliverables.
  • Investigate mechanical failures, defects, nonconformances, and performance issues; support root cause analysis and document corrective actions.
  • Document assembly procedures, process flows, inspection criteria, work instructions, test results, build observations, and design-transfer deliverables.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, electrical, and software teams to support project execution, system integration, and manufacturing readiness.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related scientific or engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of related mechanical engineering, product development, medical device, robotics, manufacturing, or regulated-product experience.
  • Experience with CAD documentation, prototyping, fixtures, design reviews, verification, validation, manufacturability assessment, and design transfer.

Desired Skills and Attributes

  • Strong technical communication, documentation, collaboration, accountability, and ownership skills.
  • Ability to identify mechanical risks, failure modes, manufacturability concerns, and practical design solutions.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, drawings, tolerance analysis, data analysis, prototyping/machining methods, root cause analysis, FMEA, risk assessment, and regulated product development practices.
