Job Summary


Fulfill the Boys and Girls Club mission by assisting the preschool instructor with daily work routines. Responsibilities include providing reinforcement of instruction to individuals or small groups of students, performing activities in the classroom or outside, preparing/organizing instructional materials, and performing various clerical duties as assigned. 


Key Roles/Responsibilities

  • Reports to Early Childhood teacher 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent teamwork skills 
  • Ability to remain calm and patient. 
  • Assist with planning, organization, and implementation of age-appropriate learning and recreational activities that meet individual and developmental needs of the child. 
  • Prepare/organize materials for the classroom. 
  • Provide support to the teacher by setting up and taking down work areas and centers 
  • Assist students by providing proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude, and general guidance. 
  • Assist in supervising students in the classroom, on the playground, or on field trips; monitor and control the behavior of students according to approved procedures; report student progress, performance, and behavior to the teacher as appropriate. 
  • Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety rules; assist students with toilet training when needed. 
  • Perform related duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Skills/Knowledge Required 

  • Paraprofessional educator license (PEL) 
  • 2+ years of classroom experience (preferred) 
  • CPR and First Aid certified (preferred)
