Job Overview
As an RF & Communications Engineer, you will support engineering analysis, system performance evaluations, field testing, and technical assessments associated with a large-scale spectrum transition program.
You'll work within the client's engineering environment to help evaluate system readiness, investigate RF performance issues, support testing activities, and contribute to the successful modernization of mission-critical communications infrastructure.
This role is ideal for candidates with experience in RF engineering, land mobile radio (LMR), P25 systems, wireless communications, transit communications, or other mission-critical communications environments.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate RF system performance across existing 900 MHz and target 800 MHz environments
- Analyze interference, coverage, propagation, capacity, and system performance issues
- Support spectrum monitoring, field testing, and system validation activities
- Assist with engineering assessments related to spectrum transition and rebanding efforts
- Review technical documentation, system configurations, and engineering submittals
- Participate in field inspections, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- Document findings, technical observations, and project status updates
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, infrastructure, and project stakeholders
- Support communications systems integration efforts involving DAS, backhaul, OCC, and related technologies
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field
- Experience in RF engineering, wireless communications, telecommunications, or communications systems engineering
- Knowledge of RF principles, wireless system performance, and spectrum management
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prepare technical documentation and communicate findings effectively
- Experience working independently and collaboratively in a professional engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of communications or RF engineering experience
- Experience with Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems, including P25 environments
- Experience supporting mission-critical communications systems
- Experience with 900 MHz to 800 MHz spectrum transition or rebanding projects
- Transit, rail, metro, or transportation communications experience
- Familiarity with Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)
- Experience with microwave or backhaul communications systems
- Experience supporting Operations Control Center (OCC) environments
- Experience with FAT, SAT, commissioning, or system validation activities
- Knowledge of integrated transportation or advanced transportation management systems
