POSITION SUMMARY
The King’s Student Pastor shepherds students toward Jesus Christ by introducing students to the Gospel, nurturing spiritual maturity, and cultivating a Christ-centered discipleship culture across Junior High and High School. This role requires a discipling pastoral heart, strong relational presence, and a team-focused posture in partnership with teachers, counselors, staff, volunteers, families, and King’s leadership. The King’s Student Pastor supports the mission and discipleship framework of King’s Schools and participates in community leadership efforts that help students grow in faith, character, service, and biblical wisdom.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES:
Christ-Centered Leadership
- Uphold and model a Christ-centered environment in all student ministry, pastoral care, and campus engagement.
- Conduct all responsibilities in alignment with CRISTA Ministries’ Mission, Vision, Statement of Faith, Core Values, and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
- Support the vision and direction of King’s leadership and incorporate that vision into student discipleship responsibilities.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, teachers, counselors, staff, volunteers, students, and families.
Student Spiritual Formation
- Serve Junior High and High School students through intentional discipleship, pastoral care, teaching, and relational presence.
- Teach students how to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do as Jesus did.
- Create environments conducive to spiritual learning and growth for not-yet-Christians and followers of Jesus alike.
- Develop practical ways to support the mission and discipleship framework for King’s students.
Reach and Student Engagement
- Collaborate with King’s staff on outreach opportunities that engage students in the community and meet spiritual, physical, relational, and emotional needs.
- Engage new students and connect students with the Gospel, mission, and people of Jesus.
- Maintain a visible presence at games, activities, and events to build trust and relationships with students.
- Participate in Serve + Learn trips and support student participation in One CRISTA activities.
- Occasionally speak at chapels as assigned or invited.
Pastoral Care
- Offer office hours and availability to support student spiritual formation needs.
- Provide intentional connection, discipleship, and care for students.
- Maintain constructive church relationships that support and encourage families to connect with the local church.
- Respond to difficult, argumentative, or challenging conversations with Christian maturity, humility, and professionalism.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Partner with Parents in Prayer and the Knight Support Community to deepen pastoral care for students.
- Collaborate with student ASB and student Spiritual Life representatives to deepen discipleship throughout campus.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and staff to support student flourishing and coordinated care.
- Participate in King’s community leadership teams as assigned.
Administrative and Ministry Stewardship
- Maintain a work calendar reflective of ministry responsibilities and priorities.
- Steward time and responsibilities faithfully while managing varied and pressing priorities.
- Ability to flex hours to meet both personal and ministry needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
CHRIST CENTERED
- Belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.
- Is a committed Christian who is dedicated to continued spiritual growth and development as evidenced through a growing personal walk with God (e.g. daily spiritual rhythms of prayer, fellowship, Bible study, etc.).
- Prayerfully seeks God’s will in their own lives and in their ministry at CRISTA.
- Engages our ministry including staff and colleagues through prayer, participation in spiritual practices, leading devotionals and other spiritual practices.
- Affirms, aligns with and supports CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Statement (CCC).
- Conducts themselves in a manner which reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
- Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
- Three years of working experience in Youth Ministries with a focus on student support and relationships.
- Demonstrated ministry, teaching, discipleship, pastoral care, or student leadership experience sufficient to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
SOFTWARE / EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
- Proficient use of Microsoft Suite, including Teams.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
- Ability to pass background checks relating to DSHS Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions. (WAC 388-113).
- Experience with leading student groups
- Ability to engage in critical thinking and exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
- Ability to take initiative without direct supervision.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Master’s degree or further studies in a related field such as theology, biblical studies, youth ministry, leadership or a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or international equivalent).
EXPERIENCE
- Five years of working experience in Youth Ministries with a focus on student support and relationships.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
- Certification in Christian counseling.
