Mervin Manufacturing, home of Lib Tech, GNU and Bent Metal, is a leading designer and manufacturer of snowboarding, skiing and surfing products built at the world’s most environMENTAL factory by people who ride them. Mervin Manufacturing was founded by snowboarders Mike Olson and Pete Saari in 1977. In an industry where virtually every other snowboard, ski, skateboard, and surfboard company has moved production to China or offshore, Mervin is the longest running and last major board building factory in the USA. Based out of Carlsborg, Washington, between the rugged Olympic and Cascade Mountain Ranges, Mervin is a direct link between riding and manufacturing. 

  

Job purpose 

To sublimate graphics neatly and precisely onto appropriate top sheets and base plastics to accommodate production schedule. 

 

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Assemble bakes by stacking graphic subsheets, topsheets, or base plastic with brown paper buffers 
  • Use correct type and size of plastic in bakes with correct graphics 
  • Plan bake schedule to maintain uninterrupted use of oven time 
  • Apply etched badges on designated locations on topsheets 
  • Deliver bases to base cutting area 
  • Maintain inventory of extra and overbuilt tops and bases 
  • Accurately record sublimation progress on production schedule as each set is completed 
  • Monitor sublimation progress across all presses  
  • Clean and maintain work station, tools, and machinery used  

  

Qualifications 

  • Able to establish and maintain well-organized work flow and work area 
  • Excellent visual skills for discerning details, colors, variances, and flaws  
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job repetitively. 
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. 
  •  Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.  
  • Must have a reasonable understanding of the integral components of the product and process.  
  • Strong communication skills.  
  •  Experience with power tools is a plus.  
  • Computer experience 
  • Dependable 
  • Team player   

 

Physical requirements 

  • Required to regularly stand and walk 
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms  
  • Occasionally required to climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell 
  • Regularly required to assist and lift up to 50 pounds. 
  • Frequently required to assist and lift up to 40 pounds. 
  • Vision requirements include close vision and distance vision

Position Hours are Monday - Thursday 5:00am - 3:30pm

Pay Range: $18.30 to $21.55 per hour

Starting rate is $18.30/hour with a $1.10/hour increase once fully trained and meeting quality and quota expectations. The position is based on a tiered pay scale with increased knowledge and abilities for each tier associated with an increase in wage.
