Description

 Food Service Specialist (Part-Time)


A therapeutic residential program for youth ages 11–18 is seeking a dedicated Food Service Specialist to prepare nutritious meals and mentor residents. This position blends daily culinary operations with meaningful youth engagement, helping residents develop essential life skills in the kitchen.


Key Responsibilities

  • Meal Preparation & Quality: Plan, shop for, and prepare nutritionally balanced daily meals. Ensure all leftovers are stored safely and efficiently.
  • Kitchen Operations & Inventory: Manage inventory for all food and household supplies. Organize the kitchen to maximize safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency, including post-meal cleanup.
  • Youth Mentorship & Support: Lead a weekly food preparation life skills class for residents. Provide crisis support and supervise youth during kitchen activities.
  • Compliance & Safety: Maintain active safe food handling certifications and adhere to all health standards.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Certification: Active ServSafe Certification is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in food services is highly preferred.
  • Cultural Competence: Ability to interact sensitively and appropriately with a culturally diverse youth population.
  • Driving Record: Valid driver’s license that meets the agency’s insurance standards.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Hours: Part-time, 20 hours per week.
  • Shift: Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
