I. Position Purpose
Reporting to the Environmental and Health Safety Manager, this position is responsible for sanitation throughout the facility.
II. Position Responsibilities and Duties
Performing duties as directed by others to ensure the following duties are managed accurately and timely:
Facility Responsibilities
- Execute sanitation activities throughout the plant facility
- Maintain plant sanitation standards at all times
- Serve as back-up custodian
- Monitor key indicators for quality, productivity, and utilization
- Utilize the IMS and SPC where applicable
- Responsible for quality of work within area
- Maintain work environment in a clean and orderly fashion
- Operate forklift, skidsteer loader, and aerial lifts
- Conduct winter snow removal & salting operations of sidewalk walkways, parking lots, and other areas as assigned, as needed.
- Perform paint & preservation work as needed.
- Perform pressure washing of facility & equipment
- Assist in identifying and correcting any pest control problems
Quality, Safety and Sanitation
- Follow all Personnel Safety policies/procedures, including the use of proper PPE, as well as ensure the safe use of required tools and equipment
- Follow all Food Safety, Quality Assurance, GMP's, Sanitation and general plant policies/procedures
- Inspect products for overall appearance according to customer and QA/Food Safety requirements and communicate with supervisor when non-conforming products are present
- Communicate all safety or environmental issues to supervisors/managers
- At end of shift, secure all equipment, perform general housekeeping duties
- Complete necessary paperwork for documenting process parameters and recordkeeping requirements
Open Communications to be a team player and do other tasks as necessary.
III. Essential Skills

Education Level: High School Diploma or GED
Related Experience: Must have a valid drivers license, and capable of being covered by employer insurance policy
Superior sanitation skills
Strong attention to detail
Team oriented
Equipment operational experience of forklifts, skid-steer
Preferred Experience: Preferred to have previous production experience
Preferred to have previous experience in human or animal food manufacturing
IV. Physical and Mental Requirements
Be able to work independently, or as part of a team. Be able to work at heights. This position requires physical and mental alertness, attentiveness and stamina for the length of an entire 8-12 hour work shift each day. Occasional to frequent lifting of 50+ pounds, frequent changing from a seated to standing position and occasional to frequent stair climbing are all physical demands of this position. The working environment for this position will include occasional to frequent work in both extreme cold and hot weather conditions.
