Join Maine Veterans’ Homes as a Maintenance Worker II at our Scarborough location!


We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Worker II to help keep our facility, grounds and equipment safe, functional and well maintained. This position performs a variety of general maintenance and repair work and helps ensure a safe, sanitary and comfortable environment for our residents, employees and visitors.


Schedule

  • Full-time
  • Monday–Friday
  • Shared on-call rotation

What You'll Do

  • Perform routine, preventive and general maintenance and repairs throughout the facility.
  • Complete repairs and maintenance involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, masonry and other building systems.
  • Maintain buildings, grounds, equipment and resident areas.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and address safety or facility concerns.
  • Assist with groundskeeping and seasonal maintenance.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for residents, employees and visitors.
  • Assist the Environmental Services Manager with inspections, documentation and compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Participate in the facility's shared on-call rotation.

What We're Looking For

  • At least three years of experience, education and/or training in general maintenance and repair work.
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry, masonry, electrical work, plumbing, painting, groundskeeping and custodial functions.
  • Healthcare, nursing home or long-term care maintenance experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Current and valid State of Maine driver's license.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, employees and the public and respond appropriately to residents' needs and inquiries.
  • Ability to work independently, troubleshoot problems and prioritize maintenance needs.
