Job Overview
Responsible for providing accounting and clerical support within the department. Handles accounts payable duties, petty cash, student pay, reconciling accounts, payroll and other accounting functions. Assists students and staff with accounting matters and questions.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- Coordinate, maintain, and reconcile Petty Cash.
- Coordinate, prepare, and reconcile Student Pay.
- Assist students and answer questions regarding Student Pay.
- Reconcile the Student Pay Allotment Management Information System (SPAMIS) bank account and prepare reimbursements to Chugach.
- Accountable for Student Government Fund tracking in Student Government’s accounting software.
- Prepare monthly Student Government bank account reconciliations for submittal to Department of Labor Data Center.
- Collect employee expense reports, review for accuracy, and batch to Corporate Office.
- Reconcile and code credit card transactions weekly using the online commercial card program.
- Assist in the preparation of data input for development of financial statements and management information reports including preparing monthly accounting journal entries.
- Provide accounting clerical and administrative support to the finance department.
- Provide information as requested to Corporate Job Corps Finance Team.
- Assist in preparation of budget to actual reports for Center staff.
- Coordinate with other Center staff concerning accounting matters.
- Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
- Cultivate and maintain a climate on Center which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
- Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform all other duties as requested.

Key Responsibilities:
- Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
- Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information to students, management and line staff, corporate and DOL personnel and public groups.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret and manage data.
- Ability to develop rapport and positive working relationships with all departments
- Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
- Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Adherence to established company safety policies and ability to work in a safe manner, using any required personal protective equipment (PPE) as may be required.
- Compliance with company standard operating procedures and personnel policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Two (2) years of relative accounting experience.Â
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level.
- Successfully pass background check and drug test required on the contract.
- Current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

Preferred:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Experience with property and purchasing controls with a government contractor.

Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in an office setting and at various locations on Center. Employee must regularly walk, climb stairs and visually observe Center environment. Employee must be able to run and respond to physical altercations or other emergencies rapidly for the safety of students, Center staff and property. Employee must be able to safely operate a passenger vehicle and supervise students simultaneously. Â

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the employee to be able to frequently required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Work somewhat close to other people, such as when sharing office space. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
